It's probably similar to the way Texans feel about beans in their chilli. (Did I get that right?)

I have to confess to you...I'm a Marine Corps brat--born in PA but moved around my whole life--and do not get caught up in the nuances of state-to-state culture. I've been in Texas for the last seven years. All I know is that people are much more polite to me in the South than they are in the North, but northerners are good people at heart and usually pretty darned entertaining. If anyone here did not approve of my taste in chili, we might get a laugh out of it, but I think they'd be pretty tolerant.

On the flip side, I lauged my butt off when Kerry asked for Swiss cheese on his Philly Cheesesteak from Pat's King of Steaks. As it is, I can't get down here what I used to get up there on my cheesesteak: Cheese Whiz! :)

I guess it just depends on the attachment that we have to particular elements of our respective cultures. Hot dogs? For me, as few as possible, except when the ambiance demands it. :)
