It's official! Yahoo!
Actually, I did respond in #513. And I don't "despise" Alan. I despise that the state party is so pathetic, and the national party is so apathetic towards Illinois that we have to import an East Coaster. You may not agree with my criticism, but you shouldn't mischaracterize it.
I take it you don't buy the carpetbagger concern :o)
...if so, that'll work about as well as the rest of their schemes.
Do you think the RINO party would tolerate the possibility of a Keyes win?
If they had any interest in Illinois actually having a conservative senator, they would seriously consider consider a candidate who has openly supported Democrats like Mayor Daley and Jesse Jackson Jr.
It seems pretty clear to me that the RINO leadership want Keyes to get slaughtered so they have an excuse to run more RINO candidates in future. Much better for them than would be running RINO Barthwell and having her come in third.
I will tell you this. Keyes is a great speaker. This new guy Obama is also--the next Clinton [hey, the genius stuff, not the junk]. I would expect this debate to reach some high levels not seen in American politics since Goldwater--Dirksen in the Senate.
"First of all, it's considered good forum etiquette to PING the people you are posting about.
And secondly, shove it."
My, my, Theresa Heinz, such impolite language. Where's the civility?
Thank you very much for posting this. It's good to hear from someone in the know from Illinois on this. I sure hope you all can get Keyes a win!
Excuse me, Theresa Heinz-Kerry....
The Ill. Gop unders......LOL...LOL...LOL..understands...LOL (whiping tears from my eyes) whast they're...hehehehehe... doing? roaring with laughter................hahahahahaha... oh my sides are hurting.
FGS, you post that trash and then cry for civility?
But,but,buuuuuuuuuut I'm a woman.:-)
I guess what I'm saying is that I don't believe gaining the support of many of them is unrealistic. We shouldn't write them off just because they've never heard a good, valid argument against the feel-good, sloppy-agope, relativist philosophy they inherited from the various media to which they've been exposed.
I don't fear the word; we should not be afraid to call evil for what it is...but there are certain contexts that it would be more practical to use than others. Be truthful, of course, but also be inviting those who have opposed good things in the past, once they have been convinced of their goodness. That, IMO, is the proper role of a leader.
As if being nice would make any difference.
You and some others have let your hatred for Alan overcome any good sense you may have.
Have an excuse to run more RINO Pub candidates? That's ALL they ever run. They don't need any excuses. So may as well go with Keyes and give it a shot, then they can go back to what they do all the time anyway, and that's run RINO's.
I hope that helps.;-)
My guess is you are the only one who sees my comments as trash, but that's all right, Theresa. I can live with your slings and arrows.

When Keyes et al. complained about Hillary, it is clear that he thought she was violating some unwritten rules. That Hillary got away with it shows that those unwritten rules don't really apply. How, then, is it hypocritical for Keyes to decide that, since Hillary has shown the rules not to apply, he is not bound by them either?
I think the operative saying is, "Well, if you want to play that way..."
You're tormenting yourself over nothing, mate. And you're so personally involved with that problem that you can't step back, and get it in perspective. Keyes is a big issues kind of guy, always has been. He'll deal with anyone who tries to call him an out-of-towner. Matter of fact, Obama has an Achilles heel on that issue, himself. The Dems may not want to go there. Time's drawing short and the state party hasn't come up with a practical alternative. Keyes is prepared to put his hand up for the good of the party, and the cause, and give his best even if the challenge seems insurmountable. Can't you do the same?
