There is nothing immoral about a carpetbagger is the voters want the carpetbagger. Heck, California needs some carpetbaggers. The carpetbagger charge bores me. We are one country by and large, and many places would benefit from fresh talent. Of course this particular candidate in this particular locale, is sort of like, well, I won't go there.

You've ruffled my feathers a few times, but, heck, I always figured we're on the same side generally, or we wouldn't be on this forum. Contrary to popular forumlore, I don't hold grudges; hell, I can hardly remember from thread to thread who I post to........LOL.
See, I'm not such a B*T*H, am I?

"All he has to say is "I grew up here"
But, of course, if Obama said that, he'd be lying. Obama grew up in Hawaii, with a few years in Jakarta (after his mother married an Indonesian Muslim) thrown in.
But of course you're right that Obama will play up the fact that he has lived in IL for years while Keyes just moved there.

Oh please........Champaign-Urbana isn't going to go for Keyes.
To: Dan from Michigan
All he has to say is "I grew up here. I live here. I cheer for the Bears, not the Redskins(or Ravens), etc" Except he really grew up in Hawaii.

Yeah, but at least the Anointed One will face someone not afraid to rough him up a bit.

That didn't seem to bother the lefties here in NY.Dems have good will in NY and were able to put together a coalition of the expedient. Illinois Republicans have little good will left in this state--practically none. I hope Keyes does well, but he won't. Someone will ask him what he puts on a hotdog or where he goes for good Italian Beef, and he'll show himself ignorant of local culture. That alone will do it.
To: FITZ
That's a simplistic outlook, to comment on the inevitability of the loss does not mean that you cheer it.

Why have the election ? Might as well just hand the seat to Obama with your thought process.

I think she actually has that much gall.
To: nicmarlo
I second that. Alan Keyes is one of the true conservatives. I hope he doesn't modify his stance on trade.
To: Howlin
You slowly sweeter as I grow nastier. Perhaps in time the ships will pass in the night. LOL.

The only subtlety is that we hate Hillary, and like Keyes. Hey, when it comes to liking Keyes, speak for yourself.

Because Obama has actually LIVED in Ill. for years and is a state Senator.
And Alan's going to move into the state 90 days or less, into the state. He doesn't even have a place to live there NOW.
To: wayne_shrugged
also the bulk of the black, heavily DEMONrat populationYou don't think the abortion issue could split that vote? It's not as if Obama can claim to be descended from slaves or anything like that --- how much could he have in common with the blacks that vote for democrats?

Oh yeah?
Let Bill Clinton declare his candidacy for Bob Graham's seat before he actually moves to Florida, and you will see the "immoral carpetbagger" charges fly in this forum.

he'll show himself ignorant of local culture. I don't know if that will be an issue. Keyes has been to Illinois many times. "Ignorant," is not a label I'd put on Keyes lightly.

The race was lost when Ryan quit likely.Good riddance to Ryan. The Dems shot themselves in the foot by forcing him out.
Ryan is a pusillanimous little twerp -- I heard him interviewed by Hannity; the guy was a pathetic mess.
Keyes will be a fantastic candidate up against Obama. No, I don't hold out hope that he'll win. The Dims have their corruption machine in place and they'll make sure their candidate 'wins,' just like they did with JFK.
But Keyes will give them one heck of a run for their money!
