Dick Cheney had had a house in Wyoming for years; you slammed a bunch of people, asking if they were this upset when Cheney changed his residence.
Cheney HAD some place to go; Keyes doesn't.

And why did Alan Keyes think it should apply to Hillary Clinton and not to him?
This really does at least help give the President some prospects in Illinois.
But I am of the sort that believes that most elections are winnable if the right sort of campaign is run.

Illinois Republicans chose Alan Keyes as their candidate today to run against heavily favored Barack Obama, the up-and-coming Democratic Party star.
Republicans were forced to choose a new candidate when their nominee, Jack Ryan, dropped his Senate campaign in late June over embarrassing allegations about his sex life.
Party leaders first tried unsuccessfully to persuade former Chicago Bears coach Mike Ditka to take the political plunge.
Keyes, a conservative commentator, ran unsuccessfully for U.S. Senate twice from his home state of Maryland and sought the Republican presidential nomination in 1996 and 2000. He has never lived in Illinois but under state law would only have to take up residence by election day, Nov. 2.
Obama, an Illinois state senator, gave a stirring speech at the Democratic convention that raised his stock with party members who see him as a future presidential candidate.
Keyes, a WorldNetDaily columnist, heads up RenewAmerica and the Declaration Foundation, organizations looking to preserve the founding principles of America.
Obama, the son of a Nigerian immigrant father and a Kansan, was heralded by media during the convention as a centrist, but he has been given perfect 100 scores by liberal groups such as the Planned Parenthood Council, the Illinois Environmental Council, the National Association of Social Workers and Citizen Action Illinois.
He denounced the war in Iraq, saying, "I am not opposed to all wars. I'm opposed to dumb wars."
Obama received an F grade from the National Rifle Association and a "zero" from the Federation for Right to Life, a pro-life group.
In the Illinois legislature, Obama sponsored a bill to document racial profiling, requiring police officers to record the race, age and gender of anyone they stop. He also has sponsored legislation for universal health care.
Who knows, but in a blow-out election that Keyes might bring out enough Christian conservatives to put Illinois into play for the top of the ticket?

Correct. If the GOP wants to retain the Senate seat in IL, this was a bad pick. But no one who could win would run. So if they want to use this opportunity to open some eyes and spur some thoughts, this could end up being a great pick. A good way to chip away at the Dem dominance in the Black community, to plant some seeds.

I like Alan Keyes. He lives here in Maryland and will have to move to Illinois before the election in order to be eligible to run. Keyes ran for the Senate unsuccessfully here in Maryland where he never really had much of a chance. I've met him before when he hosted a nationwide radio show out of WCBM in Baltimore (Owings Mills). Alan has two problems. First and foremost, he will be seen as a carpetbagger moving into Illinois at the last minute .... although that didn't stop Hillary in New York, Illinois is another battle altogether. Alan will need a lot of support from the State GOP and a huge get out the vote drive. The second problem .... which is not his fault, is the fact that he is getting into the game very late. He has yet to campaign, and I'm not sure what he can do at this point to raise money for a campaign at this juncture. He will do fine in the debates, but he will need money and lots of support from the State GOP there. It will be an uphill battle, but God I hope he wins!
