How else will he pay for his Armani suits and travel first class.

What's so wrong with him doing that? Does he really pay more than other politicians?

Principled conservative, huh?

Alan Keys is a true patriot who stands for traditional family values.

So?.....what is the law in Illinois that spells out how long someone must live in Illinois in order to run for office. It is obviously not very long.

My point is....it makes us look like a bunch of political hypocrites to complain about Hillary and give Dr. Keyes a pass for doing essentially the same thing. I would guess that some Democrats in New York "asked" Hillary to run too.

If the law in Illinois is such that anybody from anywhere can run...well that's not good IMHO. This means that any old political hack can go from state to state that allows anyone to run until he manages to get elected.

I wonder how he feels, knowing he's the fifth choice for the Illinois GOP?

Whatever. What I want to know is how you feel now that a man you despise has an opportunity to sit in the Senate?

I know it sticks in your craw. That's obvious enough.

You've spent the last 4 years railing on the man. Like that is your mission in life...to tear down Alan Keyes.

How does it feel to be carrying water for Soros' boy Obama?

The Illinois GOP came to HIM.

Well, sort of. A handful of the 13 state committee members came to him, and convinced a majority of the rest to choose him. 13 people out of 14 million. Talk about a groundswell...

..he talks down to people, as if he were some kind of national preacher...

He is a national preacher, Sinky.

And that's why you don't like him.

Hillary went to NY of her own accord. That was a "courtesy draft." Alan was truly drafted. It's a huge difference here.

He is a long-shot but I tell you I would rather bet on the long shot then the chalk. And I have won with the long shots.

Do you want Keyes to win, or what? Do you want to lose this Republican seat to the Democrats, and make it that much harder for Bush to pull through any of his agenda or appointments?

We NEED this seat!

That is what I am thinking. Once hillary won the seat, the dems lost the right to point the finger and yell carpetbagger.

I was there. I witnessed what was said. Keyes did not say Bush was evil, and as you mentioned, has been very supportive of Bush's foreign policy.

Do we have any independent verification on this? MSNBC.com, Google News, CNN.com and foxnews.com are not reporting on this.

Sorry. I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but sometimes we have to face the truth.

Keyes doesn't have a chance against Obama.

Alan Keyes has need this and should have done it many years ago. I am so glad he finally decided to make it official.

I don't expect him to win. But he'll knock Obama's crown down a couple of inches. And probably the blacks in Illinois will watch - you know Keyes will make at least some of them think.

The point is, Keyes didn't seek this seat. Therefore, he's not a carpetbagger, by definition.

This is a childish argument, and it changes nothing.

How did you feel when Dick Cheney changed his Texas residency after decades so that he could meet the constitutional restriction on a POTUS and a vice-POTUS being from the same state?

How hard did you rail on him?

No one could be happier than this Chicagoan!

I voted my conscience four years ago in the primary, THIS was my Presidential Candidate!

... Keyes ain't gonna win or even come close, but it helps us two-fold: puts heat on Obama to not have a free ride and forces him to make promises he'd rather not make; and Keyes actually will help Bush -- because, otherwise, the downballot could have been a disaster with GOP voters (including black GOP voters) just staying home.

A very good point;
