More on Kerry and hunting
Posted on 08/03/2004 10:26:47 PM PDT by kdwmson
Hate to re-open the Kerry-shotgun-hunting can of worms, but check out the whole quote: I go out with my trusty 12-gauge double-barrel, crawl around on my stomach. I track and move and decoy and play games and try to outsmart them. You know, you kind of play the wind. That's hunting.
Decoys? Using decoys to hunt deer in Mass. is all sorts of illegal. Not that anybody needed more evidence that the guy is full of BS, and I don't mean buckshot.

IIRC, "baiting" deer with food is illegal in Oklahoma.
I vaguely think the use of scent lures is allowed.
BUT what sort of MAN uses tricks to hunt deer?
Not even the DEMOCRATS I konw stoop that low.
But maybe a man who has successfully hunted wives with trust funds works at things differently.

I noticed the fore grip as well. Could make for warm fingers. Definitely not much for precision, but the buttstock in the armpit doesn't help either. "Spray and pray" doesn't work with only one round up each pipe.
whatta b'wannabe.

The dog isn't pointing....it's bugging out. Any dogs worth taking hunting are not that dumb.

Agreed.

As I recall, he came up with "Mannie Ortiz" -- apparently conflating Mannie Ramirez and David Ortez (I hope I have the names right -- I'm not much of a sports fan, which is yet another reason I'll never run for president!); I did see in one FR posting that there is a big Kerry contributor named Mannie Ortiz, but I only saw it the once.

Kerry is more off base than usual. (No pun intended) Thanks for the info.

I was partially WRONG about Eddie Yost's interim managing career, Minuteman...
Digging out my husband's old Encylopedia Baseball, in 1963, Yost was a third base coach In D.C. when his old Senator's ex-teammate, Mickey Vernon was fired as manager.
After letting it be known he'd only do the job until a permanent manager was hired, the Senators traded Jimmy Piersall to the Mets for arthritic-knee'd slugger Gil Hodges, who was ready to call it a playing career and begin managing.
Yost went with Hodges when he left to return to the Mets as manager in 1968. A year later, they were World Champions!
Later on, Yost became third base coach in Boston, but his one game 9-3 loss to the WHITE Sox is recorded as TYING the shortest managerial stints of all time.
Incidentally, a doofus by the name of TED TURNER (Atlanta) made that same list on 5/11/77 with a 2-1 loss to Pittsburgh before NL President Chub Feeney ordered him out of the dugout and back into the stands with all the other drunks.

In contrast, George Bush will be on this week's Roland Martin fishing show.
It strikes me that he is the kind of guy you'd like to go fishing with and I think it'll be a good program showing him outside the political spotlight and in the "real world".

Interesting picture. I believe that this picture is from Kerry's Iowa pheasant hunt. I occasionally hunt in Iowa and I believe that Iowa law requires wearing a blaze orange hat. How comes it that Comrade Kerry has no hat. I remember that Kerry complained about the cost of his license for this hunt. Maybe he didn't want to mess up his expensive do too.

hmm I thought you used rifles with scopes not shotguns to hunt deer? I'm not a hunter, just a handgun carrier, but it seems to me a shotgun is more for use on birds and small game like squirrel & rabbits, not big game animals like deer. A 30/30 would be a better choice of a deer hunting gun.
My uncle Pete was a big time, he went every year to Iron Mt to hunt, he used a 30/30 on deer and bear and a 12 gauge shotgun on squirrel and rabbits.
Very successful hunter, rarely bought a piece of meat at the grocery store.

From all indications, kerry's a total fraud when it comes to being a fan of major league baseball in general and the Red Sox in particular. The thing is, people don't vote for a President because he is a fan of their favorite team. He'd get more respect by being up front and saying, "Look, I catch the occasional game but I really don't know a whole lot about it. Maybe one of you can give me some pointers the next time I swing through."
Same with the hunting nonsense. That would get him a whole lot more respect in the long run, but he seems incapable of being genuine.

The thing is, people don't vote for a President because he is a fan of their favorite team. It's not a matter of a candidate being a fan of their team. The guy is allegedly a big Red Sox fan. He's obviously faking it (and not doing it very well).
When hilary claimed to be a life-long Yankees fan, I wish someone had had the 'nads to ask her to name three Yankee players from the '60s.
A singer, whose name I've forgotten, did just that to algore. When he told her how big a fan of hers that he was, she asked him to name a song or two that she had done. He couldn't even name one. Busted!
