Mr. Yuhas (being gay himself) makes a very strong common sense argument yet apparently he is now getting hassled and threatend by the activists in the gay community here.

The problem is, being homosexual has everything to do with homosexual behavior and very little to do with much else.

Wouldn't it be more productive to simply showcase the people who happen to be gay who don't wear dresses or parade shirtless down city streets?

Unless of course that's the way they really are. What if it is the image of "normality" that is the fiction here?

Wow, this is perfect. It's exactly what I've thought for years but have been unable to put into words as well as this author.

Attended one of these once about ten years ago in SF with a liberal, long gone, girlfriend. It was a freak show. Like the author said, many folks could care less what people do in the privacy of their own homes. The groups involved in these parades alienate almost everyone.

My sister rented a house to a lesbian "couple" (with young child) for a little over a year. They had been friends with my sister's daughter before she died. These "girls" (that's what everyone calls them, but they are thirty-something year old "women") broke up several months ago and another "girl" moved in. They stopped paying rent at the beginning of the summer and have now finally moved out. THE HOUSE HAS BEEN PRACTICALLY DESTROYED. There was a long line of neighbors stopping by while my sister was there, informing her of the ruckus these "girls" created in the neighborhood. They frequently heard shouting and things slamming into walls. Once, an item was tossed through the window. The diswasher was stabbed (yes, stabbed). The kitchen floor was burned up. The walls and carpeting were destroyed. The medicine cabinet mirror was ripped away.

My sister said (to my relief), this just shows you how far you will go when you are trying to believe that people are normal. She said, it's not what they do in there bedroom that's the issue (I actually differ with that but...). She said that the problem is that these people are mentally ill.

It is a very long story but it's consistent. They are not well and no one will help them because admitting their problem gets in the way of their politics.

Oh...back to the child, she is no longer in the custody of her lesbian mother (that goodness!).

I hope America likes mainstreaming pathology. Do you know where you children are and what they are being taught? RULE #1: NEVER TRUST SOCIAL SERVICES.

I've told gays on another message board that they have a choice. They can project a family-friendly public image in which they reject the twisted elements of gay culture and people might be willing to trust them with children or they can embrace the twisted elements and people won't trust them with children. Twisted sex lives and children don't mix, and a willingness to mix them in public only makes people fear what goes on in private and makes them less likely to want to leave gays and lesbians alone with children or give them custody.

Guess how that was received?

Some gays deliberately engage in public behavior to shock and provoke. It only succeeds in generating ill will. I fail to understand the motivation.

I think these "gay pride" events need more publicity. I would dare any TV network to show more than a carefully edited clip of what goes on and let the American people decide. If people were outraged by Janet Jackson's nipple flash let them see 20 minutes of dykes on bikes etc. The gay marriage issue would be quickly decided and all the "gay is an aceptable alternative lifstyle" brainwashing would be quickly forgotten by seeing exactly what the homosexual lifestyle is about as publically celebrated by its practioners.

It's like the Puerto Rican day parades, the Columbus Day parades, the St. Patrick's day parades, and all the like. The oddballs like to come out, put on their costumes, and goof off.

Guys who get drunk at St. Patty's Day parades don't represent the average Irishman, just as the freakshows at gay pride parades don't represent the average gay man.

Gay Pride parades make it extremely difficult for me to argue with Muslims (like Al Qa'eda) who say America is a harbinger of evil and cultural death.

Ping.

After the countless men in dresses, shirtless women, politicians and adoptive parents who use their children as political statements ... When all of that is over, the parties start and the open use of drugs and alcohol cause ambulances to be paid overtime in order to care for the men and women who fall in the streets or collapse in the clubs.

Wouldn't it prove to America that gays are just like everyone else if the grand marshal was not a drag queen or a liberal gay activist and if children were not used as political props to bolster their parents' need for validation as being good parents despite the fact that they are exposing them to debauched behavior and decadent displays in public?

Yet compassion for homosexuals, stating that thousands have left the homosexual lifestyle is labled hatred. What a messed up world this is.

Can't post or link from them due to their request, but The Onion had a classic a few years back "Gay-Pride Parade Sets Mainstream Acceptance Of Gays Back 50 Years".

Surely the gay community can do better than that...

No they can't. That's the problem. They are NOT normal!
