I know DoughtyOne has a ton of stuff to put up regarding our trip but the natives are restless and all of us want to share our incredible experiences and pictures! There are so many FReepers to thank for making the day such a success. We probably had 50 to 60 FReepers and friends at our peak. I'd like to start off with thanking Hi Heels for putting together breakfast at Marie Callenders and especially the beautiful graveside memorial for President Reagan. Hi Heels had a P.A. system that she brought in; a beautiful printed program; and an incredible service. Bob J. welcomed everyone, Diotima read a poem, Doug from Upland had a tribute to President Reagan that he shared; Admiral pbear8 sang a solo; Captain pbear8 played the bagpipes. Hi Heels had a very appropriate service and benediction that was appreciated by all FReepers and the general public that was gathered around. Admiral pbear8 was kind enough to make special patriotic ribbons for all of us to wear - which made it very easy to find people when it was time to round everyone up!
We all caravaned over to my ranchero for a fine BBQ and party. Viet-Boat-Rider immediately stepped up to the plate and starting cooking up massive amounts of vittles; Doddlelady set up her easel and starting sketching freepers, Hangfire and PeoplesRepublic_of_LA started jamming on guitars and singing, and the FReepers kept arriving!
We had live music entertainment by the CaterWailers (bluegrass, sea shanties, folk); and of course, non-stop talking, laughing and teasing.
It was an honor to have Jim Robinson and family as a guest in my home and it was a beautiful thing to have all you FReepers here. Thanks Jim Robinson for making the day possible!
Drats, for me. Hubby will be sighing a BIG breath of relief!!! :-)
Let me know when you figure out a way to sell them, OK?
Life is a good as you make it. Life is good!
Conservative says, "PROVE it!"
Liberal says, "Gimme, gimme, gimme!"
Conservative says, "Lucky me"
Liberal says, "Woe is me"
Correction:
Conservative says, "PROVE it"
Liberal says, "SHOVE it!"
Here is how I see it.
How do you tell the difference between Democrats, Republicans and Southern Republicans?
The answer can be found by posing the following question:
You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children. Suddenly, a dangerous looking man with a huge knife comes around the corner. He locks eyes with you, screams obscenities, raises the knife and charges. You are carrying a Glock .40, and you are an expert shot. You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family. What do you do?
Democrat's Answer:
Well, that's not enough information to answer the question! Does the man look poor or oppressed? Have I ever done anything to him that would
inspire him to attack? Could we run away? What does my wife think?
What about the kids? Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand? What does the law say about this situation?
Does the Glock have appropriate safety built into it? Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway and what kind of message does this send to society and to my children? Is it possible he'd be happy with just killing me? Does
he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me? If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was
stabbing me? Should I call 9-1-1? Why is the street so deserted? This is all so confusing! I need to debate this with some friends for a few days and try to come to a consensus.
Republican's Answer:
BANG!
Southern Republican's Answer:
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! click... (sounds of reloading)
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! click
Daughter: "Nice grouping, Daddy Were those the Winchester Silver Tips?"
You win.
The Second Amendment is the best litmus :-)
I win I win I win. What do I get?
Contented? ;-)
Mark, your photos are SO cool. Thanks for posting them.
Thanks for posting that photo, Henchster. Jim, there are no words to express what a delight it was for me to meet you.
Beautiful sentiments in that poem, "CG." Thanks for posting it, diotima.
LOL! Something about our California weather, the beaches, the Hollyweirdos and other nut cases populating our streets, byways, freeway underpasses, etc., that doesn't lend itself easily to accommodating folks who need ultra privacy. [wink]
I already had that!
Thanks.
Reagan won his first term 30 days after my praternal grandfather passed a way. I had been listening to Reagan on radio since the early 70's. He and my grandfather were alot alike in how they lived. I pattern myself after those too great men.
I miss them both.
I used to go to your great state frequently on business until I changed careers in 95. I know what you're talking about.
You get a brand spanking new USED toaster!
Yeah!!!!
I hand those out on the Dose, for the first person to post. Cool, huh? (Har!)
CG!!! I LOVE your poetry!! You're such a wonderful asset to FR. I sure hope you can make it to the next go-'round at the Library!!!
I think we did REALLY WELL for two weekends in a row...I know I, for one, have new for life friends...you included!!!
Thanks. I will try.
Cool. It would be an honor to meet you.
Thanks, "BG." I'm flattered, honored and feel the same about you.
