I know DoughtyOne has a ton of stuff to put up regarding our trip but the natives are restless and all of us want to share our incredible experiences and pictures! There are so many FReepers to thank for making the day such a success. We probably had 50 to 60 FReepers and friends at our peak. I'd like to start off with thanking Hi Heels for putting together breakfast at Marie Callenders and especially the beautiful graveside memorial for President Reagan. Hi Heels had a P.A. system that she brought in; a beautiful printed program; and an incredible service. Bob J. welcomed everyone, Diotima read a poem, Doug from Upland had a tribute to President Reagan that he shared; Admiral pbear8 sang a solo; Captain pbear8 played the bagpipes. Hi Heels had a very appropriate service and benediction that was appreciated by all FReepers and the general public that was gathered around. Admiral pbear8 was kind enough to make special patriotic ribbons for all of us to wear - which made it very easy to find people when it was time to round everyone up!
We all caravaned over to my ranchero for a fine BBQ and party. Viet-Boat-Rider immediately stepped up to the plate and starting cooking up massive amounts of vittles; Doddlelady set up her easel and starting sketching freepers, Hangfire and PeoplesRepublic_of_LA started jamming on guitars and singing, and the FReepers kept arriving!
We had live music entertainment by the CaterWailers (bluegrass, sea shanties, folk); and of course, non-stop talking, laughing and teasing.
It was an honor to have Jim Robinson and family as a guest in my home and it was a beautiful thing to have all you FReepers here. Thanks Jim Robinson for making the day possible!
Thanks for posting your pics...
Would you mind posting the poem you read by Conspiracy Guy at the graveside ceremony?
It was beautiful.
Ronald Reagans Wish
America is crying now,
I hope its not for me.
Ive gone home to be with the Lord,
Its where I want to be.
He called me for my job is done,
Now I will take a rest.
The work was hard and took some time,
I know I did my best.
I hope these tears I see are joy,
Not sorrow or remorse.
My life was full, I lived it well,
The journey takes its course.
The best years are ahead of you,
So dwell not on the past.
Your work will keep the beacon strong,
A beacon that will last.
Please trust the Lord to guide your hand,
He led me all the way.
Gods Blessings for America,
Create a better day.
Ill see you all some sunny morn,
There on that distant shore.
Our Shining City on a Hill,
Please weep for me no more.

(I just copied that from his FR home page)
I really love the sketch you did for me! Thanks so much!
Boy that was fast!
Thank you.... and you're so very welcome for the drawing.
You are absolutely beautiful.
I was about to go find it but diotima beat me. Sounds like yall had a wonderful time. Alabama freepers are so private that I don't fit in with them. I even sent the poem to Hi Heels with my real name.
Most freepers are pretty private...
that's why this thing was so special.
And you were there too!...Well, sorta kinda almost.
Bet you would've loved it....if you ever get out our way, we'll put together a very special family freep for
our Alabama brother!
You know, things can get pretty contentious on the threads,
but face to face I think most freepers really LIKE each other.
When Freeper Laura Earl and I got married in March we invited a Freeper from Georgia to the wedding. He and his wife did show and I really enjoyed them. A lot of people asked who he was, I would say, "he is my imaginary friend and this is imaginary wife". Then I'd introduce them.
I guess I'm not very private at all. I have no secrets, (except those that belong to others), and I have no fear of the mortal life. Two near death experiences as a youth and 4 years in the Strategic Air Command flushed all the fear out of me. My situational awareness is very acute and I turn the big stuff over to the Good Lord.
I've spent most of my life walking into crowds of strangers and working the crowd. Everyone who really knows me wants me too run for office, but it hasn't seemed to be my mission.
If I find myself on the west coast in the future I'll be posting a vanity seeking freepers for coffee or dinner.
I am going to assist WKB in organizing
Mississippi FReepers sometime next spring,
so perhaps you would want to attend our
gathering.
I am leaving CA for Vicksburg, Mississippi.
Going to be traveling back and forth between
residences beginning this October, with a permanent
move scheduled for April.
I have loved meeting several of our CA FReepers
and will miss ALL of them dearly. Fortunately,
I live close by to Doodlelady and some other DEAR
San Diego FReepers, so we're already fixing to get
together and to work on Bush's campaign.
Doodlelady is precious and ever so talented.
We have become tight friends, and ours is a friendship
that will last thru-out our lifetimes. Of that I am
certain.
Keep me informed. I guess I need to try to wrangle these Alafreepers into a more active group.
If I were you,
I'd begin with Southack.
We have conversed a few times. He is near Mobile and I'm in Birmingham. Four hour drive on a good day.
Well THAT'S a good thing! LOL!
You and Laura Earl would be a refreshing addition
to any family freep.
I have a feeling we'll all get to meet, somewhere, sometime... eventually.
We want to hear your stories in person!
Golly, I miss you already.
How dare you leave this land of
fruits and nuts.
LOL!
When I look at the calendar,
it looks to me like my move
is a loooooooooong time from now.
Oh wow... what a bunch of cuties!
Everyone looks more than happy...deeply contented.
So very happy for you :-)
How cool your son is your Best Man.
He better watch out for all those fine young
freeper gals who'd love to scoop him up!
I'd like to join in too. Sounds like fun.
The redness makes us look like a bunch of drunks. Justin is a good looking young man. He just got his Masters in Accounting in less that 5 years. He starts his job in two weeks with the Largest Privately Held Accounting firm in the state. He got a heck of a deal. When he gets his CPA in 2 years he is going to go to law school at night. He has a gorgeous sweet girlfriend who is waiting for him patiently. They've been dating 4 years.
PS: The deeply contented is my way of life. Both my kids got it. Son in law already had it. Laura Earl has learned it.
Contented and complacent should not be confused. All five of us a go-getters and fighters. Contentment comes from knowing you always give your best shot.
Thank you :o) I din't use a silk screen, I used "iron on transfers" I bought at the office depot. The shirt was fairly simple to make; you only need a printer, an iron and a design.
Unfortunately, the t-shirts are not for sale at this time; but I'm hoping I can find a way to make them available.
Aw...so he's taken?
Too bad, lurking freeper gals...MOVE ALONG!!!
Man, you must be proud!
No wonder you're deeply contented!
(had to look up "complacent"--
didn't realize it included "smug"...
always thought it meant "lazy!" LOL)
Conservatives are contented...they KNOW they're doing good.
Liberals are the smuggies.
