COAST GUARD DETAINS CONTAINER SHIP NEAR PORT NEWARK
(New Jersey-WABC, August 6, 2004) — The coast guard detained a container ship about ten miles out from Port Newark this morning.
The ship's cargo of fruit reportedly gave off unusual readings for hazardous materials.
Officials suspect the fruit may be contaminated.
The ship will be brought into port later today. HAZMAT teams will be on the dock to unload the cargo.
