Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda network planned to blow up Heathrow airport in a September 11-style terrorist attack, it has emerged.

Chilling details were discovered on the computer of an al-Qaeda suspect arrested in Pakistan.

One of the 13 men arrested in anti-terror raids on Tuesday was said to be in the advanced stages of planning the attack.

The man was detained as a result of intelligence gathered after a recent raid in Pakistan.

Planning for the Heathrow attack was said to be at an advanced stage.

Police are continuing to question the 12 men at Paddington Green Police Station in London.

The suspects, between 19 and 32, are all believed to be of Asian origin.

They were arrested when armed officers swooped on addresses in north-west London, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, and Lancashire.
