Presidential Race Remains Close; No Convention Bounce
Bush slightly ahead among likely voters, Kerry among registered voters
by David W. Moore

GALLUP NEWS SERVICE PRINCETON, NJ -- A new CNN/USA Today/Gallup survey, conducted on Friday and Saturday following the Democratic Convention in Boston, finds that the presidential race remains close, with President George W. Bush receiving 50% support among likely voters, and Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry 47%. Among the larger group of registered voters, Kerry leads 50% to 47%. Compared with the last CNN/USA Today/Gallup survey conducted before the convention (July 19-21), this post-convention poll shows that among likely voters, Kerry's support is actually two points lower than it was pre-convention, while Bush's support is three points higher. Among registered voters, Kerry's support in the current poll is one point higher than it was pre-convention, while Bush's support is also higher, by two points (the percentage of undecideds dropped in both groups). For neither group of voters does the slight change in voter preferences, compared with a poll conducted shortly before the convention, favor Kerry. All of these changes are within the margin of error, meaning that we cannot be 95% certain that Bush gained on Kerry after the convention. However, clearly there is no convention bounce for Kerry.

Take a look at this --- President Bush's FIRM support increased as a result of the RAT Extreme Makeover Convention:
Intensity of Commitment to the Candidates Are you certain now that you will vote for [John Kerry/George W. Bush] for president next fall, or do you think you may change your mind between now and the November election? |

"Musta been his hamster sucking story that turned people off.'
A poster yesterday used the term, "Hamster Hero." I think I'll start calling him this from now on. The mental image is both humorous and indicative of his service in some foreign land.

Maybe it's just a stretch, but I kept trying to figure out what that pic reminded me of. And it finally hit me today. It reminds me of that famous photo of John Kennedy Jr. saluting at the funeral of his father. Eerie.........is he trying to look like the son of JFK?
Yeah yeah......it's a goofy analogy, but it's still creepy to me.

LOL! I had forgotten about those. Most appropriate.

Gallop will keep polling until Kerry has the lead.

Lucianne called it his John-John moment. We ought to catalogue the number of times he ripped off someone else's moment. First with the walk on the fllor to the podium ripped off Jimmie Carter, then the "I am John Kerry" from Carter and so on. I kept getting dejavous hearing him thinking, where did I hear these words. He was a word salad of other's words.

Musta been his hamster sucking story that turned people off. Maybe the gays were upset that Kerry didn't have an "inclusive" story about gerbils.

is this the first poll where either candidate was at 50 percent or higher?
To: Normal4me
What will be remembered:
1. Kerry's embarrassing "reporting for duty" moment, and the ridiculous overkill of his phony Vietnam heroics.
2. Theresa Heinz Kerry.
3. Bunny suit.
4. Edwards' limp fizzle of a speech.
5. "Where are those f*cking balloons????!!!"
6. Michael Moore's fat face everywhere.
Short of biting the head off a rat onstage, about as bad a convention week as possible. Dumbasses.

Apart from these factors, it is quite possible that the Democratic Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates are completely full of shiat and lacking any ideas for the future of the nation.
