I'm also skeptical. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that this was written by someone in the abortion industry, probably a man, who is trying to convince us (and himself) that this is the normal reaction of a woman who has an abortion.

I think this story is BS.

Yeah, the laughing when she heard the baby cry on her way home - definitely didn't ring true.

But, fine, we know that she or the ghost writer won't be laughing about this in years to come.

"I wouldn't be surprised to find out that this was written by someone in the abortion industry,"

Possible, I suppose, but I can tell you I have had first hand face-to-face conversations with women who had just this attitude--at first.

If it persists, she will gradually enter a post-traumatic decline ending with a poverty of relationships and emotional attachment, absence of joy and spontaneity, internal desolation, probable substance abuse and/or promiscuity.

She may try to have a child later, hoping to replace the loss, if successful. It won't work, and the later child, if she lets it live, will be at elevated risk of being physically abused, possibly killed, by the mother.

She may spend her entire life this way, angry and bitter and full of blame for others, and never look at herself honestly again. Tragic, really.

Don't be so sure. I had a friend who had an abortion years before I met her. At that time, she said that there was nothing that would've convinced her not to get it. Not an ultrasound, not hearing the heartbeat. She just wanted it done. She said that, at the time, her heart was dead. She said that she had no soul and all there was inside was a cold, calculating determination.

When I met her, she was a evang. Christian with several wonderful children that she loved very much.

I knew another woman who had an abortion about five years before I met her. She wasn't sorry that she had the abortion, but later she couldn't have children and she always felt that this was justice. How she could say that having the abortion wasn't wrong, but feel that she was being punnished for it be being sterile, I'll never understand. Denial runs deep.

Yes, there are women who are that cold. Some of them warm up later, and some never do.
