Didn't you expect her to break out singing, "Don't Cry For Me Argentina." I did!

My Mom is 86 and still kicking also! She is in a retirement center now. Nearly blind, had both knees replaced and a heart condition. Poor soul hates living like she is because she was always on her feet on the move doing something all day long helping others, etc.

Reason I asked that, was someone said to me he was stopping at a fishing place.
I reasoned it must be a Bass Pro Shop close by.

Maybe he's gonna to throw a line in the water somewhere.

We could only hope. Ooooops!
There goes that word "hope" again! &;-)

Not easy believe me. My mistake to move here. After retiring from the Army in Georgia, and being from Alabama, I was not up on this place. My aunts and uncles lived here and talked me and my daughters into moving here because there were jobs here. I could not find a good job in Alabama at that time, 1992, to support me and my daughters after retiring, so I came here and got a job within 4 days. Met my now wife here, which is the best thing to come out of this mess. She works for Bank of America (35 years), so when she retires we are moving to Wyoming or maybe Montana, but we are getting the h-e-double toothpicks out of this pig pen I can grant you that. If she gets bought out early and offered a package, the UHall is in the driveway and I am gone, gone, gone.

Probably worde3d that wrong.....Picture of CHeney at his "undisclosed location"? ALways wondered when they said that if he'd gone fishing....Probably as safe in a stream fly fishing as tucked anywhere in some bunker.

I've never been to Seattle but I know the scenery around there is great. Nice that you met someone nice enough to marry there. We're supposed to be in that region in a couple years when we visit hubby's cousin in Port Townsend on the way to seeing my family in CA.

We've been to WY & MT a few times - they do have some beautiful spots too.

***[I like Cheney. Always have. I admire no-nonsense, all business types.] I'm with you. He's my type too. He also has that dry wit that is disarming and fun. Good man !!!***

Count me in with you two - my exact feelings about the man. And add to it - to paraphrase the way one poster put it a while back - he's my grandfather, my father, and who I hope to be.....or something like that. I trust the man to look out for us. Edwards is truly such a lightweight

What I heard, he says "my opponent & his running mate", not the name.

Then he says: There Is Nothing Complicated About Supporting Our TROOPS!

It was an awesome speech.

What is it with the planes these days? We live at the beginning of the Bush Intercontinental incoming flight path - a busy one. We see them but rarely hear them. Last week around 11PM - we heard one that couldn't have been more than 700 feet above our house rattling the windows and our nerves. The sound went on and on - longer than you would think. It was a clear night and the neighbors who beat me outside said they could not see any lights on it. We were afraid the next thing we heard would be a crash. But nothing.....shrug

Help Is On The Way

Speaking of that -- about 10 years ago, here in Texas, Dubya introduced a concept called "Tax Holidays". Right before back to school, for one weekend, all of the stores that sell clothing, footwear, whatever sorts of things one would use for school, sell their products without any sales tax. It's an 8.25% discount here in Houston. The stores combine it with big sales. People stock up. It's not a wealth transfer. It's not just for the poor. Everybody can get in on it. It's good for business, see? It's good for people. It Helps people.

And there would be a revolution if they tried to take it away. Thank you, George W. Bush. Thank you.

Ironically, the Hispanics who came here legally despise those who try to cross illegally

That is so very true! My husband's family immigrated legally in the early 1920's from Mexico to Brownsville. They are all successful, productive citizens and absolutely hate the illegals that come across and suck our country dry with social service needs.

"Right Now" is Van Halen isn't it?
They played that at Bush's monster
rally in Orlando FL, sorta his
official campaign kickoff. Laura,
Jeb & the gang were there, lights
go dark, fanfare builds, then a
spotlight falls on GW emerging
from the midst of 20,000 screaming
supporters to the insistent blast
of "RIGHT NOW"!

Whew!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't take the bait from faithin...

He lives to drop stinkbombs into GWB threads, which ruins the whole nice feeling of having a W live thread.

I just hope our delegates decide not to wear those silly hats - more proof that adults are in charge. I know, I know, it's tradition. But I think it makes them look like they just came in the building from Bourbon Street during Mardi Gras.

Just as long as the crowd is enthusiastic, positive and loud....I can tolerate their apparel.

Wish we didn't have to wait so long for the convention....We need some meat and potatoes on our plates NOW!
