I was hoping to get the pics e-mailed to me this evening but in their absence I thought I'd let you know how the President did at his Grand Rapids, Michigan stop. It was basically the same speech he gave earlier so I will skip those details, though there is something really great about seeing it delivered in person.

I'm not sure why the chose to have the event at a place that holds only 3,500-4,000. Tickets became available Wednesday morning and were gone within a few hours. The place was packed and full of energy and affection for the President. There were countless standing ovations and several 4 more year chants.

I didn't see many anti-Bush types, there were a few here and there on different corners on the walk, including one guy with a pro-France sign. Several blocks after leaving, without visible sign of my politics, a teenager walked up to me and started shrieking that she hoped my brother or son was sent to Iraq. A few people calmly commented which led to more ear piercing shrieks. While I'm not a huge Michael Savage fan, he has it right when he says liberalism is a mental disorder.

One last comment, most of the speakers leading up to the President talked about grass roots efforts and the need to turn out the vote. West Michigan is strongly Republican and they are counting on a huge turnout to offset the east side of the state and, in my opinion, the lack of passion Kerry will be able to maintain with his base.
