Very good point. As ex-Navy when I go aboard a vessel I stand at attention to the colors and then ask permission to come aboard. I would never salute in a civilian uniform.

For those of you too young to remember, General Giap was the North Vietnamese general most responsible for their military and psychological victory over the US. The caption would almost be funny if it weren't for a few disturbing facts.
According to kerrylied.com, two revealing pictures can be found side by side at the Vietnamese Communist War Remnants Museum in Saigon. They were "displayed in a room dedicated to foreign activists who contributed to the Communist victory over America in the Vietnam War".
The writing under the first says "Mr. Do Muoi, Secretary General of the Vietnam Communist Party met with Congressmen and Veterans Delegation in Vietnam (July 15-18, 1993)"
The second picture shows General Giap seated center. Oliver North has quoted Giap as saying that if it weren't for the anti-war groups the North Vietnamese would have had to surrender. Thousands of American soldiers died unnecessarily and the entire population of South Vietnam has endured decades of communist tyranny because of John Kerry's treason.
Is this who we want to be Commander in Chief for the next four years?
I think the Navy as well as the USMC, (which I do know), is not allowed to salute while uncovered. We were never even taught anything about eyebrows, etc., Your hand position was judged by your cover(hat), arm at 45, bicep at 90 to your chest & in line with the shoulder, crisp return to the side and down.
Hanoi John's salute, allowing for his disdain of the military, 30 years of hatred towards his crewman (minus 3), botox knumbed forehead unable to assist in hand position, a couple of margaritas, a slow eye, huge amounts of self-control utilized to prevent himself from laughing his arse off at his own speech, while not raising even an eyebrow at radically wacked statements he probably can't even believe he said, he gets a 3 of a 1 - 10 scale.
