Kid Rock's "Only God Knows Why"

I've been sittin' here
Tryin' to find myself
I get behind myself
I need to rewind myself
Lookin' for the payback
Listen for the playback
They say that every man bleeds just like me
And now I feel like number one
Yet I'm last in life
I watch my younger son
And it helps to pass the time
I take too many pills to help to ease the pain
I made a couple of dollar bills still I feel the
same
Everybody knows my name
They say it way out loud
A lot of folks fuck with me
It's hard to hang out in crowds
I guess that's the price you pay
To be some big shot like I am
Out strecthed hands and one night stands
Still I can't find love

And when your walls come tumbling down
I will always be around
And when your walls come tumbling down
I will always be around

People don't know about the things I say and do
They don't understand about the shit that I've been
through
It's been so long since I've been home
I've been gone, I've been gone for way too long
Maybe I forgot all things I miss
Oh somehow I know there's more to life than this
I said it too many times
And I still stand firm
You get what you put in
And people get what they deserve
Still I ain't seen mine
No I ain't seen mine
I've been giving just ain't been gettin'
I've been walking down that there line
So I think I'll keep on walking
With my head held high
I'll keep moving on and only God knows why

Only God.....Only God
Only God knows why
Only God....knows....why, why, why only God knows
why
Take me to the river's edge
Take me to the river, hey hey hey

My meeting the President was actually shown on C-Span. The handshake, our conversation, and the Presidential pat on the back.
Too bad I missed seeing it. I'm hoping to find someone who taped it, or maybe I'll contact C-Span to see if I can buy the video. It was one of the highlights of my life, and it was captured on film. I have to have a copy of it!!

Hugh Hewitt's "Kerry's SWIFT Meltdown"

"At this writing, the Kerry campaign has not yet responded to the media meltdown that is occurring around John Kerry's four decades of stories built on his secret, illegal missions into Cambodia during the four months he skippered a SWIFT boat. It is impossible to stonewall a story that broke out of the blogosphere and into the major media on Monday night and Tuesday morning, so eventually John Kerry is going to have to stand by his wildly implausible tales of cross-border excellent adventures, or he's going to have to apologize for inventing personal history. Here are the facts. Not long after returning from Vietnam, John Kerry began telling people he had been sent into Cambodia on an illegal patrol on Christmas Eve 1968. He repeated that story on the floor of the Senate in 1986, to an AP reporter in 1992, and as recently as June 2003 was regaling a Washington Post reporter with a story of how he had ferried a CIA man secretly into Cambodia, and how he'd kept the man's hat as a reminder of that journey.

The Christmas-Eve-in-Cambodia story has already been completely shredded by the SWIFT boat vet critics of Kerry, and it is hard to imagine how Kerry is going to defend the CIA man who was never there, given independent testimony from Navy vets that the SWIFT boats never went into Cambodian waters. If Kerry was sent on a secret drop-off mission, he's going to have to come up with some proof, especially with the Christmas Eve narrative now so discredited."

"Glum Saddam Writes Poems About Bush!!"

"Former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein appears depressed and demoralised in solitary confinement, spending his time writing poetry, tending a garden and reading the Qur'an, according to a report published on Monday in The Guardian newspaper. One of Saddam's poems is about George Bush, though the report did not specify whether that referred to American President George W Bush or his father, former president George Bush, Saddam's foe in the 1991 Gulf War. The newspaper quoted Bakhtiar Amin, the human rights minister in the new Iraqi government, who said he had visited Saddam's cell on Saturday. Amin said he did not speak to the former Iraqi leader. Bakhtiar said Saddam appeared "in good health and being kept in good conditions," but he "appeared demoralised and dejected," The Guardian reported."

Just ducking in [today] to let;cha know we made the Virginny ham on Sunday for all my favorite neighbors 'round me.
Was delicious and thank you very much for a real unique experience.

Thing is, seems we [read: KnI] were the *only* ones who didn't know a salt cured ham is, well, salty. {g}
The wrapping said if one desired a less salty ham, to soak the thing overnight.
So that's just what we did.
If that's what passes for "less salty" I shudder at what it would've been like had we just popped it into the oven, as-is. :o)

Like I said the experience may have been a first for KnI, but not my neighbors.
We had to have 'em draw straws to see who'd get the bone!
Apparently a salt cured ham bone makes for a fabulous bean soup; so, there was more than a lot of interest in what became of that bone.

Incidentally, my bride's been promoted within her corp (to rank of VP).
Came as quite a surprise given her last promotion to RDO was only a short six months ago.

Now ordinarily I'd be [unconditionally] delighted with her rapid ascent & success; however, the promotion means she's been recalled back to corporate headquarters.
That means we're off to -- of all places on earth -- Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Quite literally the armpit of not just the nation, but the entire planet.
I know, I grew up just outside Milwaukee County and on the day we drove sough across the state line into Illinois going south, I'd felt as if I'd been *paroled* from a penal institution. Really.

Yup.
The land of high taxes, 'Rats (up the gazoo), cops hiding behind bridges and mosquitos so thick spending time outdoors during the warm months is an act of utter masochism.
And those are just a few of the *features* of what that bunghole of a place has to offer.
She'll be making good for this, trust me.

This Thurs I'll be driving up one of my Corvettes to store at her brother's place, in New Berlin, WI.
Then Fri & Sat we'll be looking for a home on either Geneva, Cuomo, Delavan or Lauderdale Lakes.
Believe me, she'll pay for my inconvience and the lousiest weather on earth and one way will be to make possible daily forays on the fish populations a reality. :o)

Passed the second midterm testing for my 1st degree blackbelt last Monday also, btw.
Out of a possible 270 pts I score a perfect 270 for all three skills.
Unbelievable, that's makes the second perfect score card performance in a row.
Not bad for an old man, huh sonny boy. ;^)

The 6th degree black belt who ownes the ATA schools in my locale says the Oct 22nd testing's merely a formality whenever one scores two perfect midterms.
Needless to say I'm pretty pleased, maybe even a bit surprised at myself.
Not an easy thing surprising a guy my vitage, y'know.

Anyway just wanted to keep you abreast I've still a pulse, am kicking 'round out here.
May be offline even longer than I originally planned though, as this transition unfolds.

...be seein' y'all >?< my friends.

Oh yeah, Virginny hams are reknowned fer their saltiness (great on biscuits, BTW).

Hamhock'n'bean stew...make sure whoever took possession of the bone gives you a taste of the finished product...scrumptious!!

"Incidentally, my bride's been promoted within her corp (to rank of VP). Came as quite a surprise given her last promotion to RDO was only a short six months ago."

Congrats to the Missuz...she's really blazing one heckUVA trail there. Renee just started her new job with Suntrust Bank...turns out that it's a step up from her spot with Wachovia (more responsibility and more pay) and she's still getting paid by Wachovia thru October.

"...we're off to -- of all places on earth -- Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Quite literally the armpit of not just the nation, but the entire planet."

Sorry to hear yer gonna haveta move, but my favorite NBA team is still the Bucks, so the place can't be all bad. Honestly, I've never been, but I pity you having to deal with all the RATS!! It is a swing state, though, so make sure you get yer voter registration switched over in time fer the November election. You could be the difference-maker!!

"...we'll be looking for a home on either Geneva, Cuomo, Delavan or Lauderdale Lakes."

Doesn't sound all bad...are the skeeters really that nasty? Y'all heard of "OFF!!"

Not bad at all...SHEEEESH, that didn't take long, did it? You musta really kicked some butt. Did all the youngsters in yer class call you "Pops" or "Gramps"?! LOL!!

"May be offline even longer than I originally planned though, as this transition unfolds. ...be seein' y'all my friends."

Make sure to send me yer new address once you make the move...I'm selling off two of my rental properties (both close within the next two-three weeks) and am purchasing some recording equipment. So the next package you receive from me may just include some originals.

Don't be such a stranger, we miss yer wisdom and humor around here when yer gone.

"Skins Season Not Over Yet!!"

"Redskins Country is a bizarre place of exaggerated emotion and violent overreaction to every conceivable event. We're like the fanatic Red Sox Nation, but without the Calvinist preference for eternal damnation. Since the Redskins won NFL titles as far back as the '30s and '40s and Super Bowls as recently as the '80s and '90s, we assume that the franchise would be a champion again if only the bete noire of the moment (owner Daniel Snyder in recent years) would just stop messing things up. It has been this way my entire adult life, since the day Vince Lombardi came to town in 1969 to restore the team's glory. Since then, a condition of manic elation or depression has almost always been in place. Yet I never get over my sense of wonder at the phenomenon. Even my late father, who came to town in Sammy Baugh's heyday, abandoned his usual scrupulous judgments whenever the Redskins were the subject of conversation. Defeat was improper, abnormal.

"So, in this atmosphere, Jansen's injury can't simply mean that the Redskins will have to figure out whether Derrick Dockery or Kenyatta Jones moves into the right tackle spot. No, it has to be the End of the Redskins' World as We Know It. Actually, the Redskins' front office has constructed an enormously expensive team that is, nevertheless, painfully thin at some key spots. If running back Clinton Portis were out for the season, his backups would be pitiful. If wide receiver Laveranues Coles or a couple of defensive linemen were hurt, that would create voids. But depth in the offensive line isn't one of the problems. Bugel has been scratching his head about having six players with the ability to start at five positions. Backup center Cory Raymer, coming back from a ruptured Achilles' last year, was the odd 300-pounder left out. Now he may be back in. If the 345-pound Dockery moves to right tackle, then Raymer takes over at center and current center Lennie Friedman would move to left guard. Confusing, yes. But at least in that case, the overall talent level of the Dirtbags might not fall as much as many assume. It's a rare 5-11 team that has such decent choices after losing a player as good as Jansen. Of course, it's a rare 5-11 team that has the highest payroll in history. So with Snyder's wallet wide open, there's never an excuse for a bare cupboard.

In NFL towns a thousand miles from the nation's capital, the injury to Jansen is probably seen in more sensible perspective. If Gibbs and his AARP coaching staff still have their touch, and if all the team's high-salaried offseason additions are as good as advertised, then the loss of one lineman who has never been a Pro Bowler should be the kind of injury that a quality team can surmount. If it starts to unravel the whole plan, then how good were the Redskins of Gibbs II going to be anyway?

So come in off the ledge."

Skins will win a playoff game this year...MUD
