Hugh Hewitt's "Kerry's SWIFT Meltdown"

"At this writing, the Kerry campaign has not yet responded to the media meltdown that is occurring around John Kerry's four decades of stories built on his secret, illegal missions into Cambodia during the four months he skippered a SWIFT boat. It is impossible to stonewall a story that broke out of the blogosphere and into the major media on Monday night and Tuesday morning, so eventually John Kerry is going to have to stand by his wildly implausible tales of cross-border excellent adventures, or he's going to have to apologize for inventing personal history. Here are the facts. Not long after returning from Vietnam, John Kerry began telling people he had been sent into Cambodia on an illegal patrol on Christmas Eve 1968. He repeated that story on the floor of the Senate in 1986, to an AP reporter in 1992, and as recently as June 2003 was regaling a Washington Post reporter with a story of how he had ferried a CIA man secretly into Cambodia, and how he'd kept the man's hat as a reminder of that journey.

The Christmas-Eve-in-Cambodia story has already been completely shredded by the SWIFT boat vet critics of Kerry, and it is hard to imagine how Kerry is going to defend the CIA man who was never there, given independent testimony from Navy vets that the SWIFT boats never went into Cambodian waters. If Kerry was sent on a secret drop-off mission, he's going to have to come up with some proof, especially with the Christmas Eve narrative now so discredited."

"Glum Saddam Writes Poems About Bush!!"

"Former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein appears depressed and demoralised in solitary confinement, spending his time writing poetry, tending a garden and reading the Qur'an, according to a report published on Monday in The Guardian newspaper. One of Saddam's poems is about George Bush, though the report did not specify whether that referred to American President George W Bush or his father, former president George Bush, Saddam's foe in the 1991 Gulf War. The newspaper quoted Bakhtiar Amin, the human rights minister in the new Iraqi government, who said he had visited Saddam's cell on Saturday. Amin said he did not speak to the former Iraqi leader. Bakhtiar said Saddam appeared "in good health and being kept in good conditions," but he "appeared demoralised and dejected," The Guardian reported."

Just ducking in [today] to let;cha know we made the Virginny ham on Sunday for all my favorite neighbors 'round me.
Was delicious and thank you very much for a real unique experience.

Thing is, seems we [read: KnI] were the *only* ones who didn't know a salt cured ham is, well, salty. {g}
The wrapping said if one desired a less salty ham, to soak the thing overnight.
So that's just what we did.
If that's what passes for "less salty" I shudder at what it would've been like had we just popped it into the oven, as-is. :o)

Like I said the experience may have been a first for KnI, but not my neighbors.
We had to have 'em draw straws to see who'd get the bone!
Apparently a salt cured ham bone makes for a fabulous bean soup; so, there was more than a lot of interest in what became of that bone.

Incidentally, my bride's been promoted within her corp (to rank of VP).
Came as quite a surprise given her last promotion to RDO was only a short six months ago.

Now ordinarily I'd be [unconditionally] delighted with her rapid ascent & success; however, the promotion means she's been recalled back to corporate headquarters.
That means we're off to -- of all places on earth -- Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Quite literally the armpit of not just the nation, but the entire planet.
I know, I grew up just outside Milwaukee County and on the day we drove sough across the state line into Illinois going south, I'd felt as if I'd been *paroled* from a penal institution. Really.

Yup.
The land of high taxes, 'Rats (up the gazoo), cops hiding behind bridges and mosquitos so thick spending time outdoors during the warm months is an act of utter masochism.
And those are just a few of the *features* of what that bunghole of a place has to offer.
She'll be making good for this, trust me.

This Thurs I'll be driving up one of my Corvettes to store at her brother's place, in New Berlin, WI.
Then Fri & Sat we'll be looking for a home on either Geneva, Cuomo, Delavan or Lauderdale Lakes.
Believe me, she'll pay for my inconvience and the lousiest weather on earth and one way will be to make possible daily forays on the fish populations a reality. :o)

Passed the second midterm testing for my 1st degree blackbelt last Monday also, btw.
Out of a possible 270 pts I score a perfect 270 for all three skills.
Unbelievable, that's makes the second perfect score card performance in a row.
Not bad for an old man, huh sonny boy. ;^)

The 6th degree black belt who ownes the ATA schools in my locale says the Oct 22nd testing's merely a formality whenever one scores two perfect midterms.
Needless to say I'm pretty pleased, maybe even a bit surprised at myself.
Not an easy thing surprising a guy my vitage, y'know.

Anyway just wanted to keep you abreast I've still a pulse, am kicking 'round out here.
May be offline even longer than I originally planned though, as this transition unfolds.

...be seein' y'all >?< my friends.
