All the other recounts were in violation of Florida law - even if abetted by a rogue FL SC.

He's talking about the recounts done by news organizations as well as groups such as the Pew Foundation. These were examinations of the ballots. They were not illegal recounts. They also discovered that Algore lost, no matter which way any recount that Algore could have wanted (in a few counties or statewide) was done.

Ron Reagan, and other Leftists, are arguing that Gore would have won a Florida state recount as shown by the media recounts afterwards. We know that isn't true, but to my mind this obscures the more important point.

Namely, the recounts in Florida were all a violation of Florida law anyway. The law specified recounts for certain circumstances. The only recount allowed by law for a close election is an automated recount - which was done quickly and certified Bush as the winner.
