I was flipping through the coverage of the jack@ss convention and came across Ronnie Reagan telling Chris Mathews that President Bush and the SCOTUS stole the election from Al Gore. The former ballerina, claimed that every single vote recount in Florida by the media resulted in Gore winning the popular vote in Florida and therfore the National Electorial College majority in 2000.
Junior will have the same impact that the Wellstone Rally did: he is disgracing a dead man. And the public won't stand for it.
better to keep your mouth shut and have people think you're a fool, than to open that mouth and remove all doubt

The truth is that IF Gore had won even one of those recounts he would be president today.
He may never make it public, but that kid is going to have to deal with a number of demons over the coming years. I understand why you said what you said and I agree with parts of it. I still think he's to pay down the road.
It is sad how Ron and Patty turned out. I wonder how Nancy deals with that.

Ron's giggling and admiration for Moore was obvious. Pathetic.
That's an interesting premise. I suppose it could be true. I do admire her loyalty to her husband. I just wish a little more of him would have rubbed off on the kids.
My husband told me that this morning (8/31) Tim Russert said on Imus that "Gore won every recount in Florida." I didn't hear it; can someone confirm please. I found it hard to believe that Russert would say this. Didn't see it on any other thread.
I've never had a comment removed by the Moderator, but if I posted my true opinion it would be. Instead I'll post something that discusses why George W. Bush is not a third rate never was trading on his daddy's name:
A week after his father, George H.W., was elected president in 1988, George W. turned to a friend and adviser, Doug Wead, and said with a sigh, "What's going to happen to me?" Wead took it to mean that Bush wanted to know how his father's election might change his life. He asked Bush if he wanted some research on the lives of the progeny of earlier presidents, and, as Wead recalled the story to NEWSWEEK, Bush answered yes. The result was a 44-page memo, titled "All the President's Children." It's a discouraging read.

But running for governor in Texas, Bush did win—twice, in 1994 and 1998. If he triumphs again this November, he will become the only presidential son ever to be re-elected president. (John Quincy Adams, like his father, John Adams, was defeated after one term.) Just as important on a personal level, perhaps, he will surpass his father, another one-termer. President Bush has shown great sureness of purpose, even courage, rallying his country from its worst day ever. He has faced down fear, disciplined what he once jokingly described to his sister Doro as his "inner fat boy," and emerged resolute in his life and manner.
