For those of you that have not been to France this year, I want you to know that what we hear about the French despising Americans is not true. Four of us, from Texas, were there in February, 2004.

Sorry but they do hate us and have for years. I have lived in Germany, and short periods in Scotland and Holland. I have vacationed in Europe at least 7 times since 68 and been there on business many more times.

Half of France lives in the Region of Paris and they hate other Frenchmen so why would they like us? Normandy and the far SE, where you were, are the best if you are American. Grenoble counts not at all because it is dependent on tourist and they have been hurting lately. They are especially nice when dollars are being withheld. One trip does not mean you have learned their thoughts.

I have never had a European be outright rude, save one taxi driver in Vienna, a Dutch shop owner, and a couple of thousand people in France. BTW when we travel we keep a low profile, watch our manners, dress like Europeans, and speak passable French, Italian, German and Spanish among the six (all Texans) of us who go together. We do nothing to bring on any rudeness.

He is not the good guy that he is made out to be. He left the wife and kids that stood by him during his testicular cancer days in order to ride the Tour de Pants of Sheryl Crow. Sponsored by the U.S. Postal Service, Lance delivers. Perhaps he was the inspiration for Crow's "First Cut Is The Deepest".

Also in January 1997, he launched his cancer foundation and the Ride of the Roses. At the press conference, he met Kristin Richard, an account executive for an advertising and public relations firm who had done work for the Ride of the Roses. They married in May 1998 and have three children, a son Luke (born in October 1999) and twin daughters Isabella and Grace (born in November 2001).....

Hank, normally I agree with almost everything you post, but on this you're way off. It seems that you're on everyone of these threads proclaiming the irrelevancy of cycling in general and Armstrong in particular. Certainly it can't be all that irrelevant if you feel the need to post early and often...
