LA On Heightened Terror Alert
FBI Warns Calif. Authorities About Possible Attack

LOS ANGELES -- Authorities in Los Angeles and a number of other major metropolitan areas are on heightened anti-terror alert Friday following an FBI request for greater vigilance, based on yet another non-specific threat.

The FBI warned authorities in Los Angeles, elsewhere in California and New Mexico, about a possible terrorist attack, Laura Eimiller of the FBI's Los Angeles office said Thursday, calling the warning "law-enforcement sensitive."

The warning had no specifics and wasn't meant for public consumption, but rather for other law enforcement agencies, she said. The warning did not change the terrorist threat level, which remains at yellow, or elevated.

"It's basically indicating intelligence reporting that al-Qaida elements are planning attacks," Eimiller said. "It has no date or time or location."

Wagner indicted on federal charges
