The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Group linked to al Qaeda warns of 'columns of car bombs'

Australia and Italy have received warnings through a statement purportedly from militants linked to al Qaeda that demanded those countries withdraw troops from Iraq.

Are they reporting 1 plane down or 2?

Only one. It is quite common for them to run alets for ACDOWN. These have always turned out to be small craft. The fact that they did not have any information on the size got my attetion but did not raise my blood pressure.

I have no grasp of Arabic, so I really don't pay attention to them. Have there any indications of volume change on your most recent visits?

It appears the incident and the Airport and the one
about the plane in Ill is not scrolling across the
top. What does that mean?

I still don't know enough Arabic to make out too much. I just started learning last Fall, it's a slow process...

I haven't noticed too much (haven't checked in a few days), I typically hit a few of them just to grab images and other things to look at later. There were some odd goings on recently (around the time of the As Sahab video re-release of UBL), things about his death and such. Other than that, it has appeared relatively 'normal'.

African Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Rome Airport

ROME, July 28 (Xinhuanet) -- A plane belonging to the East African Airways Corporation made an emergency landing at a Rome airport Wednesday, but causing no casualties, the local media reported.

The left engine of the Boeing 767, whose flight number was S9 1459, caught fire just after taking off from Rome's Fiumicino airport to Tanzania's Zanzibar, the report said.

The pilot immediately turned the plane around and made a successful emergency landing at Fiumicino. The plane was carrying 150 passengers and the cause of the fireis under investigation. Enditem Link to Article

Plane Down Near Fox Lake

CHICAGO -- Authorities in Fox Lake are reporting that a plane has gone down near Rollins Road and Route 59, in Ingleside at about 2:15 p.m.

Lake County Police said the aircraft went down near the overpass that runs over Rollins Road.

A witness told NBC5 that the plane went down on a bike path and that Metra train service has been halted in the area.

NBC's Sky5 helicopter and a reporter are en route to the scene.

Turkey's Airport on Raised Terror Alert

Big News Network.com Wednesday 28th July, 2004 Airports in Turkey are on the second highest level of alert --yellow -- fearing a Sept. 11, 2001, type attack, a Turkish newspaper reported.

The Milliyet newspaper said Turkish officials have collected intelligence suggesting al-Qaida may be planning to hijack a plane and crash or detonate an explosive device on board the plane.

The newspaper said the intelligence came from an important source.

Last year, 60 people were killed after bombings at two Istanbul synagogues, a London-based bank and the British Consulate.

Turkish officials have charged 69 suspected members of al-Qaida members in Turkey in connection with the bombings.

The Interior and Transport ministries have not commented on the report, Sky News said. Link to Article

As far as I can remember, it was Mohammed Atta who picked the date 9/11. Bin Laden was told about ten days before that this would be the date of the attack. The plans were complete and Tuesday was seleted because airlines have the least number of passengers on Tuesdays and they figured it would be easier to take control with less passengers.

Also, per the 9/11 Commission findings. Bin Laden wanted to have the attacks earlier Spring/Summer '01, but couldn't complete the plans in time.

So they picked 9/11 because Senate/Congress was back in session from their summer break.
