Wow...wow...wow...someone please explain to me how Lance has come back to beat the 9 minutes or so he lost after the 2nd or 3rd day.

Thomas Voeckler (who was leading Lance by 9 min 35 sec) is a fine young rider but he is neither a climber nor a sprinter. He gave up all but 22 seconds in the first 2 serious climbs and lost the 22 seconds +++ on the third mountain day. When you have category 2, 1 and HC climbs, the best riders can put minutes on the weaker riders. One of the mountain stages found Mayo finishing 42 minutes back.

In the 3 days last weekend, when they got into the mountains, he made up 9 min 13 sec in 2 of those days alone, and on the third of those 3 days, he went into the lead.
He is an awesome athlete. When you include his health problems a few years ago, he leaves me without a properly descriptive word.
I predict that when he ceases to ride the Tour De Lance, it will fade in it's appeal.
