Hope nothing bad happens
Syrian musicians coming to play Carnegie Hall?
Hope this is just another false alarm situation.....obviously the authorities are on alert for something.
On July 9 I was riding the 0642 Amtrak from Maryland to Newark-Penn. They stopped the trains at Newark-Airport because of some security matter farther up the tracks. I never found out what that was about, so maybe it will be routine to check trains before they reach NY-Penn.
Fox Reporter who happened to be on train is talking on Fox right now - something found in the bathroom. He said everyone is very nervous.
WCBS says Amtrak train 170, detained at Newark Penn Station, NJ Transit police in the aisles, asking for personal info from all passengers including home phone numbers (will be contacted later), AMTRAK expects to have all-clear later, expect to see more of this as convention gets closer, passengers being videotaped.
Caller into Fox (a Fox employee) says there are 8-10 officers on his car. They are checking the bathrooms and are questioning passengers and checking ID.
Was it a McDonalds bag by any chance?
Per caller to FoxNews, something 'suspicious' was found in one of the bathroom facilities on board.
Police questioning passengers on Amtrak train in Newark

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) Police questioned passengers aboard an Amtrak train that was detained at Newark Penn Station Thursday morning, checking the identification of each passenger.
Over a cell phone from a passenger on board the train, an unidentified railroad or police worker could be overheard telling passengers, "This is an unusual situation."
Dan Stessel, a spokesman for Amtrak, said there was "an active police investigation. Until it's wrapped up, we can't comment on it."
Terry Taylor, The Associated Press' sports editor, boarded the Washington-to-New York train in Philadelphia, and said it was held in the Newark station shortly after 8 a.m. The train was still in the station at 9:15 a.m.
Taylor said transit police officers came down the aisle of each car, asking to see the identification of each passenger on board and checking the information with small hand-held computer devices.
Police also searched overhead luggage compartments with a metal wand, and at least one police dog was brought aboard the train.
Police were not allowing anyone on or off the train, and the nearby platform was cordoned off with yellow police tape, she said. A woman who was addressing passengers aboard the train said anyone with a medical condition who needed to get off the train should speak to authorities.
Stessel would not say if the train or its passengers were considered to be in any danger.
Why has the title been changed to False Alarm? I haven't seen anything that indicates nothing was amiss. Even if they let the train proceed, that doesn't mean they didn't find something or someone and took care of it.

The platform was cordoned off with yellow police tape. An Amtrak spokesman said he couldn't comment on what he called "an active police investigation" until it was over. Trial run by the lefties, I betcha. They said they were going to bollux up trains with all sorts of false alarms. Getting ready for the convention. Trying to see how long the train gets delayed for, and what the procedures are.
