I had the misfortune of visiting Hanscombe AFB in Lexington for work last year.
What do people do out there?! I asked the desk for a descent local place and they tried to send me to Chili's. I said: "No, like 'local'--where the natives eat and drink?" So they tried to send me to an Indian restaurant in Arlington Heights.
I spent the evenings drinking beer and eating in my room...
I had the pleasure of flying out of Loganistan Airport the next day.
You may have your reasons for staying, but I have never hated a place so much in my life--when I mentioned how much the place sucks to the checkout guy at Trader Joe's (I needed more beer), he said: "Yeah, that's why everybody here is moving to New Hampshire..."
My company will be short-staffed next week because some will not be able to make it home when the roads close after 4, but they know that I live a 5 minute walk from the office, so I have no choice. Lexington, Bedford are the "country" to me...I wouldn't want to live there either! If I had to live in a suburb, it would be in one over the New Hampshire line...not far at all from Boston, no sales tax, liquor is really cheap and fireworks can be obtained legally :)
"Yeah, that's why everybody here is moving to New Hampshire..."
So the Taxachusetts residents ARE catching on.
