and please understand, i LIVE in NYC. so obviously the thought of the entire city being blown to smithereens is very disturbing and scary to me and it's human nature to try to look at things and find reasons in your head why it might NOT be a go signal, the map, etc. please understand that.
Chemical plant explodes in Wewoka
A chemical plant in Wewoka exploded Wednesday afternoon around 3 p.m. The plant, Cochran Chemicals, supplies chemicals to the oil field industry. No injuries have been reported, but portions of the town southeast of Oklahoma City have been evacuated. Jim Gardner, in NewsChopper 4, caught a subsequent dramatic explosion. Watch it here.

I understand completely. We just can't rule anything out especially in light of the recent alert from Homeland Security. We know they want to hit us. The big questions are where, when and how. We're just trying to stay one step ahead of them.

Have seen several big rig incidents cross the log (CHP) today, including one that caused a HUGE mess on I-5 near the border patrol point early this morning.
After warning folks that I-5 would be a mess b/c of Opening Day at the Del Mar Racetracks, I-15 has been extremely busy...
And now, we have a HazMat type situation on I-15. This has completely closed the freeway now near Deer Springs Rd. They are talking about mobilizing for possible evacuations (based on the news report at the bottom of the hour...as in residents) and long-term freeway closure.
A cloud was reported to be visible after the spill started, and they were trying to keep cars from driving through it, but some continued on. This was all prior to the freeway being shut down.

No worries Hotrod, I am near NYC too (stones throw). I am just as scared. My biggest fear is not being able to get to my child who goes to school 40 minutes from where I work. So I put plans in place for others to get him. He knows the password to go with them. On high alert days (days we talk about here on TM) I plan to work from home on those days. If something happens, I am close to him. (2 blocks) But I am aware things may happen on a day I didnt plan for, so I am prepared for that as well.
My best advice for you is to be aware of your surroundings and options. Dont be afraid to point suspicious things to police. The worst you can be is wrong, the best you can be is a hero. Plan a place to go that is farther away (like CT or Westchester). If you have relatives, get them at the first sign of trouble and plan to get out. Dont wait for an announcement to evacuate.
That's why I started on this forum: To find out what I am up against and what to be aware of. I now carry a BOB wherever I go. (People at work think I am nuts and they assigned me to the crisis management team because I was always asking the questions they didnt think of anyway).

Again, the numbers I came up with are not area codes, but the first three numbers of a local number. The area code for all the prefixes is 212 which is lower Manhattan.
THe other numbers are also area codes for NV and Toronto Canada.

We're heading up to LA tomorrow for my son's wedding and had planned on taking the 15 because of the backups around DelMar on the 5. Now, it may be a nightmare getting out of SD.

You are absolutely right - excellent point - and the handgun depicts a symbolically clear picture of what we'll do to protect our families should the need arise.
To quote a now-famous line -- because they can. It's a way for them to communicate, incite their followers and recruit. As someone mentioned in an earlier post, the Islamic calendar with the picture of a plane flying into buildings was posted on jihad sites prior to 9/11. Of course, no one would have thought to look for it before hand.
Assuming we're talking about nukes as opposed to dirty bombs, thirteen would be a total waste in Manhattan when one or two would basically wipe us out.

The Chrysler Building towers over Grand Central Station at betwen 42nd and 43rd and Lexington. If I recall the correctly, the old Madison Square Garden is near 28th and 5th, but that is now a park. What I'm concerned about is that in a lot of the areas that I marked "not sure," there are boutique that will be filled with GOP people the end of the summer.
