(I am in the process of experimenting with growing tobacco and have been doing a great deal of reading on the subject)
I must confess I would be fairly amused by the sight of someone smoking an eggplant or a tomato!
Come on over next weekend, not only will I be smoking tomatoes and eggplants, but chili peppers as well.........
Besides that, they are d**ned annoying. It is really irritating to be in Walmart getting groceries and all these people are around talking on cell phones. They look like they haven't got good sense or something.
I don't own a cell phone either. Don't want one. Besides their public use being rude and annoying, I don't like the idea of being on an electronic leash. The new job will probably make me have one eventually, but if they do, I will still only use it when I'm on call or going into potentially dangerous situations, although, most of those are out in the boonies where there is no signal anyway.
What you mean to say is that whining crybabies have forced private businesses to bend over for them.
While smokers may be trivally inconvenienced, this is not about smokers being inconvenienced, but choices being forcibly removed from PRIVATE businesses.
If there was such a demand for non-smoking establishments many more would have gone that way years ago. Since there weren't I can only draw one of 2 conclusions, either there was no such overwhelming demand, or whining crybaby non-smokers were too timid to speak up to the owners of establishments and instead chose to seek government intervention, thus forcing ALL businesses to cater to their wishes, against the wishes of many of the PRIVATE business owners.
Aren't you all so proud of yourselves?????
It is strange you said that. A pulmonologist told me that he quit cigarettes by smoking cigars. He doesn't smoke at all now. He claims that is the best way to quit.
Well, given the extremely high price of cigarettes, that is a very logical correlation. More poor people smoke because buying cigarettes is making them poor. Yes, I'm joking...kinda.
Cigar smoke really shouldn't be inhaled, although some does second-hand style. There is nicotine involved in the whole process but not as much as cigarettes.
I quit smoking cigarettes the very same way...
just like any plant, nicotine has the ability to be helpful or harmful. It also can help people who have problems with their bowels. It has been used as a poltise for centuries.
Bob Newhart had a great routine playing the role of Sir Walter Raleigh trying to sell his king on the idea of popularizing tobacco from the "New World" early in his stand-up comic career where he used nearly the same phrase you just posted.
You people are smoking nazis. Suck that up!
I had to dig it out. hehe!
I have to laugh, uncontrollably at times, at some of these antis. You know the type I'm talking about - the ones that claim even a "whiff" of tobacco smoke is deadly, while at the same time sit around campfires, BBQs, fireplaces, etc...........in their little pea brains it seems that all smoke is benign, except that which emerges from the tiny end of a burning cigarette. ROFL!!!
And where is my article that tobacco smoke doesn't cause asthma? I have been digging in my files. Must be on another disk.
Same with the idea of nicotine being the "most addictive substance known to man"....if it were so addictive and they think it should be banned, why do they eat the fruits and veggies that contain it?
Exactly. So many anti's that are against smoking and smokers are probably addicted far more then us to nicotine just because they crave a certain food.
I love watching hypocrites spinning!!!
And it still is. I had actually forgotten about that use for it until yesterday. One of the little boys attending my daughter's birthday party was stung by a wasp while they were playing mini golf. One of the mom's emptied the tobacco out of a cigarette and made a poultice for the sting. It seemed to have had the desired effect.
Nah - they're just addicted to hearing the sound of their own "profundities" rattling around in their empty brains..
I figure the the antis have just had too much Tomato Kool-Aid to realize how utterly ridiculous they sound.
But you certainly seem to think you have the right to impose on the freedom of others. I don't smoke and I don't like cigarette smoke, but I'm not a fanatical whiner about it either.
Simple American concept: In your home, vehicle or place of business, you make the rules. In my home, vehicle or place of business, I make the rules. If I don't like your rules I don't visit you or patronize your place of business. If you don't like my rules, you don't visit me or patronize my place of business. What is so d****d complicated about that?
Rude smokers are a real PITA, but then, so are rude cell phone users, rude drivers and people who blast the windows out of peoples' homes with their obnoxious "music" who are rude by definition. In my opinion, non-smokers who, in their self-righteous indignation, feel justified in imposing their will on others, without compromise, are in the same class.
There are non-smoking AA meetings.
I quit two yrs. ago. But just talking about makes me want to run and get my packs I saved and start puffing again.....he he.
Don't I know it!
I like the way you think.
There should be a space for everyone here. What's good for one might not be good for me, and what's good for me might not be good for others.
People need to be more tolerant and not want to mold others in the way that "they" see fit. :)
"Well, that explains why about 99% of patients in psych wards smoke like chimneys..."
Nicotine counteracts the negative side effects of the older anitipsychotics like haldol.
An interesting finding reported in Lancet years ago is that such patients almost never develop lung cancer. Strange.
If I remember correctly, the Indians smoked all kinds of things in addition to tobacco.
ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!
Smoked tomatoes and chilis make an absolutely fabulous salsa!!!!!
