I know I'm a first time poster, but I've been reading Free Republic for some time. I want to offer some personal observations that will encourage the supporters of Herman Cain. I know there's no reason to believe what I say, but I think you'll find that what I say supports what others have been saying. My information is obtained from independent sources, not from other Free Republic posters.
First of all, the poll produced by Insider Advantage is not accurate. Insider Advantage does not have a good history when it comes to polls. They predicted in 2000 that Jeb Bush would lose, and that Georgia was a toss up State. Don't put much stock in that poll.
Isakson is not leading by 20+ points. The Isakson campaign knows this and are now openly talking about being in a run-off. I have heard that a recent Isakson internal poll shows Isakson at 44% and Cain at 36%. I'm not the first poster here to report this information.
I have it on good information that a large metro-Atlanta County (a Republican stronghold) is seeing a significant number of African-Americans vote in the Republican primary, during the early voting period occuring this week. It is rumored that this is also happening in a large metro-Atlanta County that is a Democrat stronghold. This is not good news for Isakson.
The Collins campaign is set to go hard after Isakson this weekend on TV in a last ditch effort to overcome Cain. This will further drop Isakson's support, and is not likely to harm Cain. Cain is too far ahead of Collins for Collins to overtake Cain.
I'm not the first to predict this, but Herman Cain and Johnny Isakson will be in a runoff. If Isakson is 46% or less, Cain will win the runoff, and become the next US Senator from Georgia.
don't know..
If Cain is pro-choice I would not support him for anything. I've not seen that fact reported. Giving a relativly tiny donation to a man who might have any number of connections (old friend, etc) does not, in and of itself, demonstrate Cain is either pro-choice or in any way liberal.
I don't KNOW that he is not - I'm not from Georgia - but IF he is a pro-life conservitive, he is the sort of high profile black with those views that the GOP needs all they get.
So you are for Affirmative Action...( GOP STYLE )lol
GA Right To Life has endorsed both Herman Cain and Mac Collins.
So we should vote for pro-choice Isakson because Cain gave Bob Kerry $250 last decade? Or are you saying we should vote for the third place candidate, Collins?
If you want an example of someone who will say anything to get some votes, Isakson is the man for you.
Herman Cain was also the spokesman for Americans for Fair Taxation. He has also been endorsed by the Club for Growth - two very anti-tax groups.
Isakson poll
Isakson 52%
Cain 15%
Cain 13%
------
Isakson 46%
Cain 16%
Collins 8
MOE 4.5%
Likely Voters
Zogby poll for AJC.com
Insider Advatantage Poll
Isakson 46%
Cain 16%
MOE 5.5%
Can you provide links for these polls?
Yes. I heard Cain address this issue at a meeting in East Cobb. His response was that we need to come up with an effective way to register immigrants coming across our borders. In other words, a system needs to be in place that will force illegal immigrants to come forward and register.
Additionally, passing the FairTax will alleviate the burden these people are on us taxpaying citizens, since everyone pays under the FairTax. Mr. Cain is a BIG proponent of the FairTax.
Herman Cain would be a fantastic senator. That would giive Georgia the best Senate combination in the country.
Isakson is too soft on the issues.
Not too thrilled with THAT position.....
If the worst thing you can find about Cain is that he gave that money to Kerrey, I can live with that. Georgia can either have pro-life Cain, or pro-choice Isakson. Collins isn't that bad, but he's going to have to wait for next time. Cain isn't trying to hide his conservatism.
Ronald Reagan endorsed tje pro-tax, welfare state President Franklin Roosevelt. We should go back and retroactively take our votes way from him, so he doesn't become president and ruin the country. "Since he had no voting record, then we have to see he supported, and where he donated his money. In that case giving $$$ to Pro- welfare state, pro-tax Franklin Roosevelt tells me all I need to know about him.
And to think I have a picture of him on my wall! I'm so disillusioned ...... ;)
In Wisconsin we also have a candidate, Russ Darrow, who owns a bunch of car dealerships throughout the state, and he is being criticized for having donated to Russ Feingold at one time. No one doubts his conservatism or his dedication to the race, but I know this is causing problems for him in the primary race. He said it was on the part of the dealership to thank Feingold for a vote he had made, but I do know that these things happen.
Boy aren't you agressive with the assumptions?
No. I merely recognize political reality.
As I said, I'm not from Georgia and i'm not intamitly familiar with the three. I have not enough evidence to say "I support Cain" or vice versa.
But I've got enough brains to know that IF Cain win there are tangible ways that benifits the national GOP.
Frankly, I could care less if Cain wins. but ANY time a Black or Hispanic Republican attains high office it DOES make a difference. That's just common sense.
Oh, and lest you jump to yet another conclusion, I find the GOP not conservitive enough for my tastes. I voted Constitution party 4 years ago, and for Alan Keyes in the primaries (campaigned for him too). so I believe my conservitve credintials are as good as yours.
Yeah...and he signed liberal abortion legislation in California too!!
The SHAME!!
Thanks for the report.
Go Herman!
[Cain has organized a great grassroots campaign. I've never worked on a campaign before, but so far I've put up 150 Cain yard signs mostly on the south side of Atlanta trying to reach black voters.]
Excellent. This is something that Johnny Iskason has no interest of doing. If the GOP really cares about the Big Tent, it would get behind Herman Cain and Dylan Glenn. If these two fine gentlemen are defeated in the GOP primary, then perhaps African-Americans are justified in giving 93% of their votes to the RATS.
Is Isakson actually leading by that much??
How is that remotely possible for a pro-choice candidate in Georgia?
Atlanta voters?
