NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Since 2000, developer id Software has told the world the next installment of "Doom," the game that kicked off the action genre, would ship "when it's done."
Good news, gamers: It's done. In the lexicon of the industry, "Doom 3" has gone gold.That means with id Software's work done, publisher Activision is duplicating copies to ship to retail. What it all boils down to is you'll be able to pick up a copy at retail on Aug. 5, though some stores could start selling the game as early as Aug. 3.

I haven't played much Doom since the original version came out. I had Unreal Tournament for a while but my FPS online gaming days were over once I moved to an area that didn't offer high speed connections.

I have the UT 2004 Demo.
Man it is a blast.
I have a 2ghz. cpu, 256 RAM (should get more, but am a cheapskate and it runs decently), with an Nvidia MX420-TV out video card, not one of the best and a bit old now, but it still plays UT 2004.
Will it play the upcoming Doom release? Not likely...probably would overload the card.

"Where do you guys get this stuff from? Counter-Strike/Condition Zero is the most popular online multiplayer game in the world and has been for quite some time." "STATIC!" Everquest has over 400,000 monthly subscribers.
Linage has over 600,000 monthly subscribers.
Conterstrike is static not persistant world, the most popular shooter game ever is HALO an XBOX game.

If your video card is more than a couple years old, it won't be good enough. It happened to me with "No One Lives Forever". It ran great on my PC. The system reqs for NOLF2 are way beyond what was required for NOLF. Serious hardware required.

HDTV = waste of fricking money, allows China to increase their GDP and therefore their military;
You should have saved your money and bought a better computer. Truth is, I rarely watch TV anymore because its all crap, so the money I save on cable fees alone can finance my computer habits. At least video games are interactive, and some even require a significant amount of thinking. If all kids stopped watching TV and played video games, the overall IQ of our country would jump tremendously, although they would all probably still be fat.

Because spending four grand on an idiot box that allows the idiot watching it to count the nose hairs on a steriod enhanced athlete is stupid and laughable. ...or you can spend $1.5k on a decent projector. In any case, what would you rather spend $4k on?

Doom3. Half-Life 2 is gonna be awesome, but Doom 3 is going to be a paradigm shift. I am actually anxious, which hasn't happened to me about a video game since I was in my 20's.

Perhaps FR needs a pc gaming group set up. It might be fun to play Doom, UT, CS, ect together.

If you guys set up a clan, I want in.
Voice chat. I suggest we use the team name CSB: Clan Stuned Beebers.

I am such a girl...my favorite part of the game is when I get a gem :) LOL! Thank heaven for that Horadric Cube! I've got so many perfect gems now that I had to sell off a bunch of them just to make room in my stash. I've found magic items in Act V of Nightmare that are a lot better than any socketed items, even with perfect gems.
