It's hard to believe that the economy in any part of the country would be negatively impacted for very long by enforcing border law, and also doing everything possible to not use foreign labor, illegal or illegal, and sending everyone possible home.
For starters, think of all of the money being wasted on education, health, and other social services for this "cheap labor" (it's not cheap labor, it's government-subsidized labor). What about the negative impact on the environment? What about the destruction of our language and culture?
If cheap labor is so necessary, employers should look to busing in from indian reservations and inner cities. Another great source of workers for years to come is retiring baby boomers...you'd be amazed at how many of us love doing things like cooking, housework, gardening, laundry, walking pets...no benefits needed, no language barrier, able to multi-task.
Fact is, the Dems want the votes and the 'pubs want the business and "cheap" labor for the economy. And the voters want, well, screw the voters, heck, maybe we just won't have an election.
I know I'm preaching to the faithful here, but those of us who are disgusted need to put in our two cents every now and then so the major parties don't think we're mellowing on this issue.
BTTT. That plan would take many off the welfare rolls! Of course there would be those who would scream about it...
No shiite. I can't believe the lengths people go to for a man or a Party but not for America...when does America come first? B.S.
