No I didn't see that. My son hollered for me to come check out the tv. While there could be a perfectly good reason for the officers to react like that, it was still pretty ugly to watch. If the suspect had a weapon, no one will be able to talk about it until he is put on trial. That gives society's malcontents room to stage another little "rebellion". I hope that the kids and I are back in the desert when it happens.

Great piece, but makes it sound like Blacks can elect the Mayor all by themselves. Hardly true, even Mike Woo couldn't win with both Black and Hispanic backing against Riordan. This was another unmentioned effect of the riots, the rage of the populace bouncing out more of the same Tom Bradley type leadership in Woo, who was heavily favored to win until getting the kiss of death from Clinton. John & Ken at KFI didn't help, either.

The Korean markets and stores didn*t get burned because the Koreans armed themselves, and protected their properties. They sent a very clear message to the
rioters: "burn my place and you die." That is the message that Bratton should be sending.

Oh yeah...now I remember why I live here...no bugs, no humidity, mountain skiing an hour drive away, deserts...but will we fight for it?

Yes, alot of them DID get burned, and they had no insurance to boot. Don't know how they pulled that off exactly, in order to get loans you need insurance but the cruxt of it was that Koreatown took a financial beating, alot of Koreans had to move back to Korea after losing everything, and from then on, things changed for the worse. Koreatown used to be able to be self sufficient just from Korean business alone but after the riots that was no longer the case. I was a frequent visitor there and noticed the sea change in attitudes.

I disagree with you. What Patrick is doing is outlining, laying out the facts for us. Once they are out there, for us to watch, it will be much harder for them to whip up a riot when the facts have been exposed. That is what is saving us from utter destruction, is the small number of activists like here on Free Republic, talk radio keeping things honest.

"The “rebuild L.A.” money came, but where did it go?"

Went to the same place all Federal monies to the Black community have gone since the 1960's. The race panderers!

Thanks for the ping! This guy essentially does PR for BOND, and yet, you're right to commend him for his reporting. This is top-drawer journalism. He must have tons of research and writing experience.

Bill Cosbny could do a lot of good if he went there and gave a speech.

At this point, they'd probably shoot him.

I guess the real question is: If L.A. is hit by terrorists, will anybody notice?

Hahn said that if officers involved in the arrest "are found to have violated the law, those officers ought to be terminated.

Dang! Pretty serious sentence ... termination. Maybe he meant just to call the Governor?

Well, they won't come to the Valley. During the '94 earthquake I never saw so many guns being carried around. It was peaceful, orderly and friendly.
