It started with one first class passenger asking a soldier what seat he was sitting in, as he passed by in the airplane's isle. The soldier mentioned a seat in the back, but the passenger in 1st class told him no, you're taking MY seat.
Good post....wish I could see on the news or in the papers.
My son-in-law is a Marine that will be returning to the gulf area for the 3rd time next month. I'm happy to know that many people will look at him with the same pride, affection and respect.
That happens in the business sector, too ;-)
Prayers and hugs - wow, what a special American your son-in-law is! Wow - soldiers are something else~~~
Speaking of bars:
There was this new bar in town that everyone was talking about because it had a robot-bartender. A man walks in to see this for himself. He sits at the bar and sure enough, a robot was bartending. The man orders a drink, and the robot asks him what his IQ is. The man replies that his IQ is 150. So the robot begins discussing nuclear physics, hydrogen power cells, and the current state of the global atmosphere. The man is amazed.
He has to see how good this robot really is. He leaves the bar and comes right back in and sits at the bar. Again, the robot asks him for his IQ. This time the man replies "100." So the robot discussesfootball, basketball, and the proper way to grill a steak.
The man leaves and comes back in for a third time.
This time he tells the robot that his IQ is 50.The robot replies:
"So, are you democrats really going to vote for Kerry?"
(sorry, couldn't resist)
Back in April my young son and I headed to the beach and stopped at a quickie mart ouside Cherry Point Marine Air Station.
There were two buzz cut young guys in jeans and tee shirts in line ahead of me and I asked them if they were stationed there. They said yes and I told the cashier their purchase was on me.
I told them I don't get the chance to thank guys like them for what they do for guys like me and I appreciated the opportunity to be able to do it.
It was only a couple of gatorades and candybars and they expressed their thanks.
IS THIS A GREAT COUNTRY OR WHAT!!!
NordP
Ah, America. The greatest country the world has ever seen because of its military and its people. God Bless America's Military and God Bless America.
---couldn't resist smiling when reading your post...so sad, so true.
Very kewl, Rb!
Hi all. I'm Jonsie's husband and just wanted to add something about our son in Iraq. I'm a reporter at the North Carolina legislature and you must know what the lawmakers did here for our son when he was home on leave. The leader in the Senate actually invited him to the floor of that chamber and asked him to address the Senate. He handled himself very well, neither of us expected that because I know that is an invitation usually saved for ex-Governors. He thanked them for their support and asked them to keep him and other soldiers in their prayers. He also got a rousing standing ovation when he was saluted by the House Speaker while he was sitting in the gallery. We even have the videotope of the Senate address. Those moments pulled all of the politicians together for a few minutes to salute a hero. By the way, it wasn't reported anywhere.
Thank you so much. He IS very special, but then they all are and deserve more than we can give. How wonderful that people are showing them how much they mean to us and how important they are.
I agree, Midwest may be the best kept secret in the air and those baked in flight cookies are scrumptious.
LOL. ;)
May the good Lord stand watch over him.
Certainly not "Baby Boomers", the new designated evil in America.
Back in the old Corps we used to joke about the most dangerous situation an enlisted Marine could possibly be in ... it was unanimous, following a 2nd Lt. who was leading the way with a map and a compass.
The scumbag anti-American, anti-war, hippies are the ones who disgraced THEMSELVES, not us!
Thank you for your support of our troops and ALL veterans.
