HEWITT: "EDWARDS IS SENATOR LIGHTWEIGHT"
Crosswalk ^ | 7.6.2004

Posted on 07/06/2004 2:34:19 PM PDT by KMC1

So it is John Edwards, Senator Lightweight. Kerry's slippage in the polls dictated that he pick someone with flash and energy, but this choice won't wear well because the country knows it is wartime, and it knows that John Edwards is no more prepared to run a war than he is to run a small state or a large corporation.

He spent four years in the Senate positioning himself to run for president and two years running.

That's it.

Aside from a talent for persuading juries to award money to injure people, John Edwards brings nothing to the debate except an ability to debate.

This is a pre-9/11 choice by a presidential nominee running away from 9/11. Kerry's strategy is now fixed: Ignore the war unless asked, and downplay it when asked.

>>>Edwards was picked for his Southern voter appeal.

By choosing Dick Gephardt, Kerry would have accomplished the same thing. With Gephardt, Kerry would have gotten a lot more then just a pretty face and a southern accent. Edwards is a lightweight, but he won't steal the thunder from JF`nK, like Gephardt would have.

Missouri doesn't have quite the same appeal to Southerners as South Carolina does.

Gep would have been a much more formidable foe than Edwards.

Breck: Ronald Reagan was also good looking ...
VP: Here's a mirror, son. I knew RR, and you certainly aren't RR.

It wasn't just that. Edwards is a professional con. He's made big bucks doing it. He was chosen for those skills.

Does anyone know if Edwards is toilet-trained?

Wee Johnny Edwards, a tiny little wisp of a senator.

I agree with you.

I think Edwards was picked not only to avoid someone who'd up-stage Kerry but also to turn North Carolina into a battleground state.

Bush will likely win NC but Edwards' presence on the ticket doesn't bode well for Richard Burr - who's running for the Senate seat that Edwards is vacating.

He's a good speaker. Unfortunately, he knows nothing and has no program to speak about.

Exactly. Edwards has an initial appeal that quickly fades after you listen to him for a while.

He comes across as naive and inexperienced. Hardly inspiring confidence as a leader.

All that will be left ultimately is that pretty choir boy look that will only accentuate Kerry's Lurch-like scarey appearance and deathly boring personality.

I say Edwards will end up hightlighting Kerry's worst attributes.

All I see are two lilly-white Johns. It's time for black and hispanic conservatives to realize that they are being USED by the Democrats.

Right you are... and by A Botox Gigolo Limousine Socialist and a Junk Science Shyster Rip-off Artist.

The only blacks and hispanics these two multi-millionares ever see are maids and groundskeepers.
