NY POST...PAGE 6 MIRAMAX chief Harvey Weinstein and his wife Eve have called it quits. In response to a PAGE SIX inquiry, a spokesman released this statement: "After 18 years of marriage, Harvey Weinstein and Eve Chilton Weinstein have amicably separated and have entered into an Agreement of Separation which resolves all marital issues. The couple shall continue to co-parent their three children, and will remain the best of friends. They consider these matters to be private, and there will be no further comment." Eve, a tall blond beauty who could have been one of Alfred Hitchcock's leading ladies, was Harvey's assistant in the early days of Miramax. Weinstein a workaholic who puts in 18-hour days purportedly promised Eve last year he'd cut down and spend more time on the home front. But then the war with Disney chairman Michael Eisner began. Harvey and his brother Bob, Miramax's co-chairman, have fought with Eisner over their compensation and how much to spend on making movies. Miramax is having to lay off 90 people, nearly 20 percent of its workforce, because Disney won't increase its annual budget. "The Weinsteins have already blown through this year's allocation and the fiscal year doesn't end until September," said one source. "In past years Disney was flexible, but this year, not." While Miramax for the first time grossed $1 billion this year in worldwide box office, Disney has tanked with such big-budget bombs as "The Alamo," "Hidalgo" and "Around the World in 80 Days." The buzz on "King Arthur" is very bad "It's a medieval 'Alamo,' " an insider scoffed. The Weinstein brothers' contracts with Disney expire next year, and it's likely that Disney will either cut them loose to pursue other opportunities, or allow them to buy back the company they founded and named after their parents, Miriam and Max. The fluid situation has put a great deal of stress on Harvey. Moreover, he's been working hard on "Fahrenheit 9/11" which Miramax financed but then was forbidden by Disney to distribute. The Michael Moore Bush-bashing film was sold to the Weinsteins as individuals, and they've been very involved in its marketing and distribution. "Harvey has never worked as hard as he has in the past year," said one insider. "He's married to his work."

The blushing bride:
LOL.....Bride practicing for the honeymoon ??
He should have remembered he was married to his wife. Wouldn't that be something if Disney cut them loose next year. Hey, Harvey, instant karma's gonna getcha.
His marriage to his work sounds in worse condition than his marriage to his wife.
One would think with all the rantings about Moore's weight and personal life rather than then facts, that conservatives did not actually have any counter points, just crass, juvenille name calling, to show Moore is wrong.
Any divorce involving 3 kids is a sad thing. I hope the best for them.
Yep I agree, there are plenty of things to talk about. Because they stoop to those lows, should mean won't. We should keep their attention there, while we destroy the other arguements they spout out.
One is media blackouts, like the non-story about the Polish Army finding Sarin gas shells in Iraq, and the media's absolute SILENCE on the issue.
What goes around, comes around. Deal with it.
Wonderful. "Deal With It" Is that artful debate or what?
"What goes around, comes around. Deal with it."
True.

schadenfreude \SHAHD-n-froy-duh\, noun:
A malicious satisfaction in the misfortunes of others.
The historian Peter Gay -- who felt Schadenfreude as a Jewish child in Nazi-era Berlin, watching the Germans lose coveted gold medals in the 1936 Olympics -- has said that it "can be one of the great joys of life."
--Edward Rothstein, "Missing the Fun of a Minor Sin." New York Times, February 5, 2000
Often the people Pi met in Mendocino wanted to hear these terrible stories, the personal disasters, or they quoted them back to her from what they'd read, with a certain glitter in their eyes -- giving Pi the chance to wonder again as she once had in a Wittgenstein seminar why there wasn't a word in English for Schadenfreude, that very human pleasure taken in other people's misery.
--Sylvia Brownrigg, The Metaphysical Touch
If self-replicating e-commerce baby tycoons get on your nerves, it's schadenfreude time. It's true that the Nasdaq rebounded after its staggering loss Tuesday. Nonetheless, what AP described as "the most volatile day ever for U.S. stocks" left a distinctly bearish aftertaste.
--"Market Motion Sickness." The Industry Standard's Media Grok, April 5, 2000
I know about Moore's weight but what about his personal life? Tell us more. Sorry, gossip has always been with us, deal with it.
It's the sort of artful debate that answers someone defending the 'crass, juvenile name calling' of Weinstein and Moore.
And aren't the liberals the ones trying to control 'personal failings like eating' by suing fast food restaurants?
As I said, what goes around, comes around. Deal with it.
I agree. It has just never won anyone a political debate. But go right ahead. I have no problem with gossip for gossip sake. I only take issue when it masquerades as political debate, which seems to be the main thrust of the anti-Moore talk. I wish it were focused on issues, not his weight.
Political debate is good but I'm here for entertainment too. What about his personal life? Are you going to leave me hanging? ;9)

One would think you were too pristine to even bother getting your underwear in a bunch over simple dialogue among us simpletons on a message board ie., get a life cry baby. FREE SPEECH, learn it, love it or leave it alone.
We're here to discuss the facts and the FAT.
