(California) Democrats Block Independence Day Celebration
Sacramento Union ^ | 7/2/2004 | John Campbell (CA Assemblyman)

Posted on 07/02/2004 2:26:37 PM PDT by mkj6080

In each of the 4 years that I have been a member of the state Assembly, we have had many "celebrations" on the Assembly floor. These "celebrations" are orchestrated by the Democrats who control the House and often involve singing and dancing. Every one of my 4 years have seen substantial celebrations of Cinco de Mayo (Commemorates the Mexican victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla), St. Patrick's Day (for the patron Saint of Ireland) and Chinese New Year's Day, among others. But never once have we celebrated America's Independence Day, the 4th of July.

So, this year, Republican Assemblyman Jay LaSuer of San Diego arranged for Vietnam war hero Admiral Jeremiah Denton to come to California to be a part of a 4th of July ceremony. As you may know, Admiral Denton was a Navy pilot in Vietnam who was shot down and spent 8 years in a Vietnamese prison. In 1966 while in prison, he was interviewed by North Vietnamese television in Hanoi after torture to get him to "respond properly." During this interview, he blinked his eyes in Morse code to spell out the word "torture." He was asked about his support for the war in Vietnam to which he replied "I don't know what is happening now in Vietnam, because the only news sources I have are Vietnamese. But whatever the position of my government is, I believe in it, I support it, and I will support it as long as I live." Four of his 8 years in prison were spent in solitary confinement. He later wrote the book When Hell was in Session, chronicling his experience in Vietnam....

Absolutely unbelievable... and repulsive.

I don't know how anyone can call themselves a Democrat and face themselves in the mirror each day.

This stuff is really starting to make me angry.

What else is there besides a voting machine which can not
work as long as those sheeply earthlings are the ones
voting. Protest perhaps? Civil unrest? It is clear the battle for the hearts and minds of the sheeple has been won by the newworldorder socialist crowd.

Is there anything that the Dem's show true conviction for anymore that is pro American way and patriotic?

Movie Reviews: 'America's Heart & Soul'
And although Disney would probably deny it -- it's documentary America's Heart & Soul could also be considered counterprogramming -- countering the documentary that it rejected, Fahrenheit 9/11. It's being snubbed by most critics, who are predicting that it will receive the same treatment from moviegoers. Roger Ebert in the Chicago Sun-Times remarks that it "may be the first feature-length documentary filmed entirely in the style of a television commercial." Jan Stuart writes in Newsday that the movie "is the kind of picture that only an unrepentant cynic or a curmudgeon could hate." She then adds: "I have no problems with taking on both of those roles." Jonathan Foreman in the New York Post describes it this way: "As corny as the title." Steven Rea in the Philadelphia Inquirer calls it "feel-good, flag-waving hooey, but at least it's bipartisan." And Ann Hornaday in the Washington Post suggests that the film might well be considered as a complement (not a compliment) to Fahrenheit. "Perhaps the most eloquent testimonial to the tensions that animate the American idea is the fact that these two movies can be seen in theaters on the Fourth of July. And perhaps the best way to celebrate Independence Day is to see -- and argue about -- both."

Democrats = The Enemies of the United States

Absolute proof?: Look at any Kerry rally. How many American flags are flying? Look also at these animals, these sub-humans dominating the California legislature.

The shame should not be heaped ONLY on the Democrats. I have been waiting all weekend, IN VAIN for even ONE WORD of this outrage to make it onto a single FoxNews program.

So far, NOTHING! Nada. Zip.
Even on Chris Wallace's FoxNewsSunday show's so-called "news you won't hear on any other network".

I just wrote a strongly worded email to mailto: FNS@Foxnews.com, and flatly demanded to know from Wallace why FoxNews has decided to SPIKE, yes spike! this story about Adm Denton's treatment by the Dems.

July 4th weekend exposure of this story could cost the Dems tens of thousands, even millions! of votes this Nov, but the conservatives are strangely silent.

AND I WANT TO KNOW WHY!!!

So help me, if O'Reilly and Sean ignore this, I will vote for Kerry and send an invitation to al Zarqawi to begin his jihad in the FoxNews studios.

Come on, please don't vote for Kerry under any
circumstances. This is one incident. Don't give a traitor
like Kerry a chance at the White House.

I have written my outrage to all of them including Bush
and Cheney. Sometimes things happen, and sometimes not.

What happened to separation of state for St Patricks Day!!!

The sort of people who are so idiotic that they would not celebrate their nation's birth, are probably so idiotic that they do not realise that SAINT Patrick's Day, is about celebrating a SAINT, i.e., a religious figure.

A similar stupidity occured over Justice Moore's tableau of the Decalogue. Some fool of an anarcho-leftist said that Jews would be excluded by its display.

At times like this, all one can do is bash one's head against the closest wall.

I received an email from BUSHCHENEY04 yesterday asking me to help them denounce the Dems' "disgusting, hateful politics" at their NYC fundraiser.

I wrote back immediately and told their Mr Mehlman that I would NOT be donating again soon to the GOP because their silence was absolutely deafening concerning the CA Dems' total disgusting disrespect of an American POW Hero, and former Senator, Adm Denton.

I informed them when I received a call from a fundraiser, that the only way I would again donate to the campaign would be when:

1. The GOP publically and unequivocably chastises Spkr Nuñez for his anti-American stance against an American POW hero.
2. Apologize for their own deafening silence at not defending Adm Denton and not making it an immediate national news story, even on FoxNews.

--and most importantly--

3. Invite Adm Denton to speak during prime time to the GOP convention in NYC.

I strongly encourage all FReepers to express these or similar sentiments whenever the GOP again asks for your support.
