FBI Raids Muslim Center(Merrifield, VA - July 8th) Federal agents depart with boxes of records and computer files.

By David Harrison July 8, 2004 Federal agents raided the Institute for Islamic and Arabic Sciences in America Thursday and surrounded it with yellow police tape.

A couple of vans carrying boxes of records from the Institute pulled out of the parking lot in the afternoon. Ayubi Mirvais talks with an FBI agent during the raid. Mirvais had come to pray and did not know the raid was taking place. Ayubi Mirvais didn't know that the Muslim center in Merrifield was being raided by federal agents Thursday, but he wasn't particularly stunned. "Nowadays we are not surprised," he said. "U.S. Muslims, we expect all of this." Mirvais, the manager of the Khan Refrigeration Co., and several colleagues rolled up to the center in a couple of company vans Thursday afternoon to pray after work. An FBI agent told them they could not go into the center and pulled Mirvais aside to ask him some questions. Afterward, Mirvais, who moved to Fairfax County from Afghanistan 23 years ago, and his co-workers got into their vans and left without saying a word.

AGENTS FROM the FBI, the IRS and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) branch of the Department of Homeland Security showed up at the Institute for Islamic and Arabic Sciences in America in Merrifield on Thursday morning and spent the entire day going through records, computers and paper files..........

Suspicious Device Shuts Roads Near Patrick Air Force Base (Florida - July 8th)

Roads Reopen Hours After Truck Stopped POSTED: 11:11 am EDT July 8, 2004 UPDATED: 1:06 pm EDT July 8, 2004

A suspicious device created traffic havoc near Patrick Air Force Base Thursday as security personnel with K-9 unites searched through a truck that tested positive for explosives, according to Local 6 News.

U.S. Air Force officials said a military K-9 smelled something suspicious on a truck trying to enter the South Gate entrance of Patrick Air Force Base off AIA. The truck was searched and the roads were reopened about two hours after the truck was stopped, Local 6 News reported.

Base officials have not revealed what the suspicious package might have been, Local 6 News reported. Authorities closed off the Pineda Causeway at U.S. 1 and Wickham Road, along with South Patrick Drive and portions of A1A. Motorists were redirected away from the air base.

Vermont Yankee Resurrected After Shutdown (Nuclear Plant)

Power Flowing To Plant Once Again POSTED: 2:36 pm EDT July 7, 2004 BRATTLEBORO, Vt. -- On Wednesday, Vermont Yankee is back up and running after a fire forced the nuclear plant to shut down for almost three weeks.

The nuclear power plant's reactor started up again late Monday and the plant was fully online Tuesday night. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission made an announcement about the cause of the fire last week. They announced that the fire was caused by a piece of an expansion joint that broke off in a duct carrying electricity to Vermont Yankee's transformer.......Link to Full Article

Better late than never, and they should look into ALL of them IMHO.
