Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) ????
I don't know if this is anything or not, but a friend who's enroute to spend the 4th of July with her mother in Long Beach, called on her cell phone to ask if we'd turn on our TV or get online and check wire services.
She was stopped in traffic near the exit for LAX......the area where planes fly over the freeway as they come in for a landing. Usually there's 10 - 15 airplanes in view waiting to approach. She said she had been stuck at a dead stop for a while, and there's no planes landing, and no planes can be seen taking off.
While she was sitting in traffic, a lane was cleared for emergency vehicles, and a series of bomb-squard trucks roared by.
My dau. called her back on her cell phone to tell our friend that we can't find anything online or on TV. Our friend said that after the bomb squad was let through, traffic was allowed to move again, and she's now beyond the area where you can see the planes coming in or taking off.
