Mubarak home after back surgery July 7, 2004
Mubarak has been Egypt's leader since 1981
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has returned to Cairo after more than two weeks in Germany for back surgery.
The surgeon in charge of the operation on a slipped disk said Mr Mubarak would continue with physiotherapy, but was fit and could "resume... state duties".
The president, 76, left the Munich hospital and flew to Cairo, where he was greeted by a throng of officials.
Uncertainty over Mr Mubarak's health has caused concerns in Egypt.
During his absence, Mr Mubarak had delegated his duties to Prime Minister Atef Obeid.
However, Mr Mubarak did not appoint a vice-president - the usual route to power in Egypt, observers say.

"The threat has not abated."
Cox declined to elaborate, but said US President George W Bush's administration was concerned the al-Qaeda terror network might try to strike on US soil in the hope of influencing the outcome of the US election, just as it did in Spain last March.
RIDGE TO OUTLINE NEW U.S. THREAT INFORMATION
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge will outline new intelligence about possible attacks planned against U.S. targets on Thursday, the White House announced.
Spokesman Scott McClellan said Ridge will hold an 11 a.m. EDT news conference on the "status of the threat," at a time when the United States is preparing for the Democratic and Republican presidential nominating conventions this summer.
"I think he'll point out that it's not precise or specific information related to time, place or location, but he's going to talk about the continued stream of intelligence reporting that we've been receiving going back over the last several weeks," McClellan said.
Ridge will also give an update on efforts under way to ramp up security in various parts of the country, he said.
U.S. officials have warned al Qaeda may be planning a major attack in the United States in this presidential election year.

BREAKING NEWS
MSNBC and NBC News
Updated: 10:53 a.m. ET July 08, 2004
WASHINGTON - U.S. counterintelligence has detected enhanced activities by al-Qaida that indicate the nation is at increased risk of terrorist attack before the Nov. 2 presidential election, Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist said Thursday.
Frist, speaking to reporters at the Capitol after receiving a classified briefing from Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge and FBI Director Robert Mueller, said the threats were non specific.
Ridge scheduled an 11 a.m. ET news conference to discuss the threat.
The White House told NBC News that Ridge would not raise the threat-assessment level, which currently is set at yellow, or elevated, but would discuss the "continuous stream" of threat warnings the government has been receiving.

Yeah, I came across that yesterday while finishing the book. I was surprised actually, I thought maybe they were some of the 'good guys.' I rememeber they (CAIR) were one of the few who released a statement following Paul Johnson's murder.
Thanks for the ping.
I work with many foreign born engineers also, but there are many cubicles with flags. There is an amazing amount conservative people here.
Sodom and Gomorrah....
In AQ's view- London and New York?
15th is also the date shown on that arabic site Cindy posted yesterday
It reads 1545/4/27
More likely New York and Miami. More Jooooooooooos...
IOW, we can clean up the mess a bit faster...
I'll be back to catch up and post later, but I thought I would add a tidbit here.
Last night- actually- early am around 12:30- I decided to call the Islamic Center in Harrisburg- I was expecting a recording of upcoming events, or something similar- maybe prayer times.
What surprised me was that a soft-spoken gentleman answered the phone- at that time. I asked for an arabic fellow I had met in Philly--he checked around and got back on the phone and said that there was no one there by that name.
Very polite indeed.
A positive thought: Not all Muslims have bailed out of Harrisburg...yet :)
I'll never truly understand why they hate Jooooooooooooos so much.
