"Last Tango in Paris was another disgrace"

That's the first and LAST Brando movie I ever saw...and I didn't even watch the whole thing. YUK. Brando has always pegged my creep meter.

I didn't state that I like Bertolucci.

Um, Bertolucci directed Last Tango in Paris, the film you criticized. Shows what you know.

His performance in the Godfather set the standard for gangster movies. I've got the entire set on DVD.

YOU have a maturity problem. I don't like Last Tango in Paris, so what. Take your marbles and run home.

Was there a "Hey"

I thought it was just "Stella."

The domestic partner is always screaming for Stella.

I don't like Last Tango in Paris, so what.

Then you should have left it at that, princess, instead of calling me a liberal dilettante.

>>I believe Brando used the word "kike". Let's not deny that.<<

He used the word "kike" in a context of decribing negative stereotypes: "but we never saw the 'kike' because they know perfectly well that's where you draw the wagons."

He wasn't saying that Jews never appeared in movies; he was saying that the negative stereotype of Jews, 'kikes,' never appeared in movies. The word, as used, did not therefore label Jews as kikes, which would be bigotted, but rather it labelled Jewish stereotypes as kikes, which simply describes bigotry.

I don't recall Ms. Hepburn doing that, although her liberal views were no secret. FYI, most of the discussion that night concerned her affair with Spencer Tracy, not her political views.

Again, I think it points out the difference between liberals and conservatives in the fact that any attention is paid to entertainers' political views. Liberals worship the cult of personality and hang on every word these people say. I tune them out and I think most other conservatives should too, because we only assign them a faux relevance by getting so bent out of shape about them, and personally I have more faith in the American public that when you get down to it, the folks in the middle who decide elections aren't going to have their heads turned that much by what an actor or singer says. Does anyone listen to Al Franken except the choir? Franken could read from Das Kapital 365/24/7 on the radio and it wouldn't bother me, because I assign no more relevance to Al Franken than I would if Chico Marx was on the radio spouting political views.

Bottom line, though, if I find a movie, CD, TV show, etc., entertaining, I'm not going to check the artists' political pedigree.

Unable to join the war because of 4-F status

What would Brando have been like had he had the military experience? He was a rebel, but in Band of Brothers someone remarked that "the army can't make you do anything, but they can make you wish you had". Brando was of exactly the right age. Lee Marvin is an example of one of the Greatest Generation who went through tough times in the war and came out a great actor. Maybe Brando would have been even better than he appeared to be.

Typical of a tyrants temper. You're the one who can't leave things at that.
Here, you forgot one of your marbles, now run along.
