I didn't see the fundraising letter you refer too. So I can't comment on his rhetoric. I do know, Tancredo supports the reelection of Bush-Cheney.
Liberal Republicans (aka.RINOs) should not have a voice in the GOP political agenda. Period. Conservatives constitute a majority of the GOP base. The party platform is based on a conservative agenda. And when Ronald Reagan appealed to Democrats in 1980 and 1984, they were conservative Democrats. Not liberal Democrats.
To move legislation, you need the president, half the house and 60% of the senate.
That means you need bout 60% of the people to be with you. Conservatives are not 60%.
What needs to be done is to assemble a 60% group and that will mean you will need to give a voice to all 60% or else they will join the other side. If you expect the moderates to vote for your stuff and for them to have no voice, you are nuts.
I posted the letter in this thread. Read it carefully and see if you can figure out what Tancredo's stated goals are. I had a little trouble. Maybe you'll do better.
Amnesty for illegal immigrants is probably not something most Americans support(ed). I don't know if it's a GOP core value or not. Is it? Do we support party bosses? (What's IS a party boss? Who does he mean?) Is Congress arrogant? Is GW arrogant and power mad? Do Americans support corporations? Are corporations hiring illegal immigrants and paying them (high?) salaries that aren't going to American workers? Tancredo seems to think so.
He can support Bush-Cheney all he wants, but I believe they will win in spite of that.
Since hearing about it, I've wondered about this "11th Commandment". Surely it can't be as simplistic as it sounds. Would President Reagan not have spoken out against Republican-backed limitation of free speech (CFR) and hefty increases in taxpayer-funded welfare (Medicare prescription drugs)?
Liberal Republicans (aka. RINOs) should not have a voice in the GOP political agenda. Period.
That'd be nice.
Conservatives constitute a majority of the GOP base. The party platform is based on a conservative agenda.
I do like to hope so, but sometimes it's hard to tell when browsing FR...
Who died and made you emperor? That's the same philosophy on the hardcore left. Unlike you, I believe anyone who is under the GOP tent should have their say in the GOP political agenda, or rather, the whole arena of ideas, that's precisely why we have elections.
You're logic suggests that for example, blacks who vote Democrat should just shut up, continue to be enslaved, and tow the line. It's preposterous.
Nobody should be told to shut up. That's Communism, not America.
So because I am not as conservative as you are -- and I vehemently disagree with you supporting Tom Tancredo now that he is in alignment with Pat and Bay, who want nothing more than to destroy this party -- you're saying I should have a say in the GOP?
