WOULD YOU ENLIST TODAY, TO JOIN THE WAR ON TERROR, IF THE MILITARY WOULD HAVE YOU?
self | 6-29-2004 | self - vanity - poll

Posted on 06/29/2004 1:44:09 PM PDT by BagCamAddict

If there were no restrictions on age, weight, fitness, etc., would you sign up to join the War on Terror??

This is a vanity poll, due to the news today that the Army may be dipping into the Individual Ready Reserve pool. Several Freepers have indicated they would go if called upon, but they don't think they will be called due to their age.

Please post ONLY ONCE, and ONLY IF YOU WOULD GO, so that we can easily see the tally by looking at the number of replies.

I checked as well - slightly too old for the reserves, but would probably make a much better solider now than I ever would have younger...

Stop with the "jerk-off"
That's uncalled for and rude.

I would go. I think I could take on a whole buncha of those islamocrazies when I'm having one of my hormonal days. LOL! It would be sight to behold. A slew of those crazy people being hunted down by a hormonal 46 yo woman on a mission to find some chocolate. There would be no hope for them.

What are the age requirements to get into the Army? Say the 101st?

I am 31 and in good shape. I have been seriously thinking about it.

Wife isn't to pleased. We were just married this year. I often thought about joining the service but opted for college and the parties instead - Have sometimes look back and regretted that decision.

My BA I could have got at anytime, joining the Service at 18/19 would have been something else!

Yes, we are surrounded by wonderful people. I think I am probably too old, but a grandmother could still operate computers, cook, etc. If they needed me (with by bad knee) I would go. I wish I could do more to help than I do now.

Give me an old F/A-18C Block 23, 24, or 25 and a few Mark 84 or GBU laser guided munitions and I am good to go. Semper Fi

You could add a link to freerepublic.com in your cool links at Yahoo. You are a great example of the average conservative babe.

44 and overweight but my biggest regret was that I was not able to get my 20 in. USAF 1983-1992. After the Soviet Union died, I was told my services were no longer needed.

Tried to get into the Guard or Reserves in 1996 but was told they couldn't even talk to me until I got in shape.

I guess you can count me in as one of the guys who would go immediately if not sooner. Just don't tell my wife.

Best Regards

Sergio

"So far in the War on Terror we've seen the politicians get squeamish on:"

Perhaps you call it squeamish. I call it doing our best to walk a fine line - battling terror while not completely turning every Islamic country on the face of the planet against us.

Unless of course you are proposing nuking them all and letting God sort them out. There are days I feel like that's the answer. But that's just a feeling, not reality.

Well, I am late 40's, never shot a gun in my life (I am willing to learn) and a married gal. But I would go to help in whatever way I could. As long as they would let me take my three dogs and hubby. LOL

Seriously, you guys make my eyes water..what a great group of Patriotic FRiends.

"Would go as E-6 or 0-3."

Me too. Although I have to admit I'd probably prove more useful as a gunnery instructor than in a combat unit. I am willing to admit that my 45 year old body just isn't able to withstand the rigors I once endured, and it would be unfair to soldiers to endanger them due to my limitations.
