Where did you find this military name database? Is it public?

Military.com. It's free, but you have to register.

It's where I look up various names in news articles and also how I detemined who the 4 troops we adopted were as far as branch of service (BoS). Just basic info like branch of service, pay grade, etc.

Okay, I was right about the name I think? Reuters here is saying:


BAGHDAD (Reuters) - An Iraqi militant group issued footage Sunday of a man it said was a captured U.S. Marine and threatened to behead him, further heightening tension ahead of the June 30 formal handover of sovereignty.

Video shown on Qatar-based Arabic channel Al Jazeera showed a blindfolded man in a camouflage uniform, and an apparent Marine Corps identity card that named him as Wassef Ali Hassoun.


Now... is he REALLY a Marine? Military.com has never been wrong before that I've seen.
