Does anyone have any idea why Western Europeans feel so superior to us Americans? It is really remarkable that they look down on us so. I just can't understand why.
I think it's an unhealthy superiority/inferiority thing. They've been bested by their kid brother and it's driving them nuts. They sold their birthright as the dominant world power for a pottage of toxic collectivist political philosophies that brought them to their knees. Adding insult to injury, we saved them from their stupidities, and afterwards nursed them back to health and stood watch over them like a sick kitten. That's an embarrassing thing for a prideful people to have in their past, and it's resulting in a toxic attitude that's being directed towards us.
That's my pop-psych explanation. There are others of course.
Could it disguise an inferiority complex?
