What about Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje?
Nice recent run of HS kids drafted.
Wait, I take that back, I had a brain fart. Should have been Ya Ya Dia (pronounced "Ja"). I think John Thompson went to Ethiopia and recruited on the basis of "three hots and a cot".
He's going to be good.
Interesting thing most of the Euros dropped out of the draft a few days ago, because they weren't getting enough promises; but it ended up really weakening the draft, teams now possibly regretting it.
Next year should be a ton of euros...
Wasn't he the one that shouted "Allahu Ahkbar" after every slam-dunk?
NOPE, aint gonna happen.
Shaq will stay and play in L.A.!
17 Atlanta (from MIL/DEN/DET) Josh Smith | F | 6-9 | 210
Oak Hill Academy (Va.)
18 New Orleans J.R. Smith | G | 6-6 | 220
St. Benedicts Prep (N.J.)
Jameer Nelson - Denver Nuggets
8^)
My prediction is that we are soon going to see scads of these 18 year olds heading off to the NBA burning out on dope, drink and skanky women.
I believe that if I had an 18 year old kid who could play b-ball well enough to be a lottery player, I would stay with that kid every minute that he was not on the court until he was 22 or 23 years old and had acquired some experience with what that world is about. For better or for ill, I do not get any impression that there are many parents of these young players who are overly concerned about that sort of thing. Perhaps these parents are more concerned that it appears and that concern does not make the news.
So the Blazers pick up two euros!
22 New Jersey (going to the Blazers) Viktor Khryapa | F | 6-9 | 210
Russia
23 Portland (from MEM) Sergei Monia | F | 6-8 | 220
Russia
Pistons get Ricky Paulding of Missouri - A Detroit native.
Thanks! (dinner took awhile.)
What's up with the 7'3" C from So. Korea? Sheesh. Lakers take a C, too... Douthit from Providence. 6'11. Wonder where Shaq will end up? Still think he's leaving and the Lakers will be built around Kobe.
"Actually, the first pick in the draft is Dwight Howard, a fine Christian young man from the Atlanta area that anyone would be proud to have as a son."
What are the odds. (And of course, no offense to Mr. Howard intended.)
