Bill Clinton hopes his former paramour, Monica Lewinsky, can someday "have a good life" beyond the scandal ignited by their White House affair. "I hope that she will not allow her whole life to be defined by her Andy Warhol-like 15 minutes of fame," Clinton told Oprah Winfrey on her show yesterday.
Clinton described Lewinsky as "a really intelligent person," and said she deserved an apology for the affair and its aftermath.
"I think I owed her one and I gave it to her," he said. "Publicly."
Clinton said he has not spoken with Lewinsky since the affair became public and deems it best not to have any contact.
The former President went on to say he hopes that the ex-White House intern's "life will be full and not solely defined by the fact that she got caught up in this media and political firestorm, because she doesn't deserve that. Nobody does."
If he happened to run into her, Clinton told Winfrey, he would say, "'Hello' to her and 'I hope you're having a good life.'"
Lewinsky now lives in the West Village and has dabbled in designing handbags and served as host of a Fox reality series called "Mr. Personality." Her spokeswoman did not return a call for comment yesterday.
I think the best financial advise for Monica was posted on FR several days ago. I don't recall the poster, and perhaps it was not original with them but here is the gist of the suggestion. Monica should follow Bill around at the book signings and sell her signature for $5.00 a throw. Anybody who would buy his book would likely not balk at adding value to their historic treasure. I would add that the other women in Clinton's life could do likewise, for fun if not for profit. Perhaps they could all band together and give buyers a group price.
That is a "great" idea!
AAAAAAAH!!! Run for your life!
Who would have thought it was her mind he was interested in...
He probably reads Playboy just for the articles, too.
If he'd just followed that understanding before his began his countless afairs, the taxpayers wouldn't have had to shell out so much.
Oh, like he ever lasted 15 minutes...
Yes Bill...she weighs 1,000 pounds because she is happy. You are such a nice man, and our country is so grateful to you for behaving so well for us in our highest office, for future generations and the world to see.
The Official Portrait has the WRONG TIE.
Lest we forget.
Has ANYone ever asked him what he would do or how he would feel if Chelsea's boss and she were behaving as he and Monica did?
Oh I think we all made that point at the time, but Clinton and the left soundly ignored it.
If his story has changed and the affair started in 1995, then how old was Monica when this first started and how old was Chelsea then?
Monica was 22 in 1995, and Chelsea was 15. Clinton is a disgusting pig.
I'm surprised he's not wearing it as his "badge of honor"! He's so proud of it he's probably planning on displaying it in his library...or maybe it will be displayed in the "Counter Clinton Library".

I think I owed her one" he said.
I thought that was a "68".
You do me and I'll owe you one.
Yep. It's happened too many times over the past week to simply be an accident.
"monica is just plain dumb."
I wouldn't call her dumb...I'd say she was naive and Bill Clinton took full advantage of that.
I remember talking with a man who had a daughter about the same age as Monica when this affair story first broke. He blamed the entire thing on the vast right wing conspiracy and I let him rant for a few moments....that is until I asked him a question. If it were your daughter involved with Bill Clinton instead of Monica Lewinsky, who would you be more angrier with....the vast right wing conspiracy or Bill Clinton. He was speechless because he knew how vulnerable young girls can be at that age. Needless to say, the debate ended on that note.
Never. Lies flow from that creature's mouth non-stop. Like water over Niagara. The closest thing I can remember was when HE demanded the Republican Party apologize TO HIM for trying to impeach him over the "Lewinsky affair."
I saw, but did not read, a post this weekend that Monica fled NYC, because of the book. Now, I'm thinking
she was paid to leave NYC for the week, or whatever.
I don't know how his daughter can look at him. Hillary is another story.
