The big city newspapers are turning themselves into small city newspapers. The network news shows are already dead -- watching Rather or Jennings or Brokaw or 60 Senile Minutes is like attending a wake for some distant relative you never quite liked.. Readership is disappearing. Marketeers don't know what to do, they are fishing around for what will work.
Nothing will ever again be like the highly leveraged value of an ad in a big city newspaper of yesteryear, or of big 3 network commercials in the news hours and prime time. The super huge cohesive ad markets are gone.
No more tide of sheeple eating every morsel the communists and nanny-statists like Cronkite served up, and those morsels only.

As far as I am concerned, we need to begin executions at Gitmo, five for every one of ours that dies. Furthermore, eradicate Fallujah. Show them our power and our willingness to use it, bring the war to them, and then, on to Iran and all others who support them. Enough of this hearts and minds crud. I want to see them regard us like Georgia regarded Sherman.

Now that's a fair opinion. It's going to take quite a while to know the outcome a generation or more. In the meantime, we really need to keep our own wits about us and take a much more intelligent view of the situation than either the Leftist knee-jerk desire to pull out, or the Rightist knee-jerk desire to "nuke" them all.

Your strategy will not produce what you think it will. You think that if we show them our power that someone they will come to thier senses.
THEY KNOW OUR POWER... THEY DON'T CARE.
DEATH IS NOT A DETERRENT FOR THEM BECAUSE THEY COUNT THEMSELVES DEAD ALREADY. THEY WANT TO DIE... THEY WANT TO DIE...
Sherman wasn't dealing with this type of mentality... He was dealing with fellow Americans. He understood them because they were like him.

The nature of this beast is not comparable to Hitlers beast(s) as far as taking them out goes.
Hitlers machine had a SINGLE nation, confined borders and were open with thier ideals and actions (for the most part).
Islam OTOH, and those who wish to impose by order of death, is hidden, spread all over the globe, rag-tag(celled up) etc...etc..
To fight it "as-is" in a pick-em-off one by one will take 100 years-- **If** the world doesn't descend into their hell first.
That's my point.
Flush em out. Make em pissed (cause I know **I** am) and see whose side they choose.
END IT NOW>

Then I suggest you reread my posts... or better yet, pick up a history book and read about the end of the war in Japan...

And Rome, with all of its greatness, fell to the Huns, barbarous thugs. They brought Rome down.
We are fighting barbarous thugs. With all our power and might, they will bring us down, if we try to fight a PC war against them. They will eventually win it. We won't.

To be honest, I am rather hoping they don't, but it's the approach that worked with Japan. When we make war, we are at our best when we take the gloves off. If we do that, the people here will follow Bush, and we will win, because they will run out of fanatics before we run out of bullets.

Are you seven? Because you seem to have the reading comprehension of a seven year old? Now, if you'll excuse me... there are more intelligent people to debate on this thread.

"So I ask you & others here, do you go to the movies, do you buy newspapers with a leftist slant (mostly all), do you watch the alphabet channels? If so you are an accomplice."
Very, very rarely. It's literally impossible to avoid such outlets unless one is a confirmed hermit, and I choose not to live in a cave and pick fleas and lice off my body for entertainment.

Perhaps you can tell us why it is OK for us to flatten cities in retaliation for terrorist murders, and it's wrong when the Germans (from their perspective) did exactly the same thing at Lidice. I don't expect an objective, thoughtful answer from you, but perhaps you can surprise me. In war, an enemy must be defeated, demoralized, and destroyed...thats how you win. We are not doing that in Iraq. We didn't do that in Vietnam or Korea either. To win the WOT, we must fight to win. War is for men not sissy PC metrosexuals. Hopefully someone in this admin will wake up and realize that. Muslims generally think in Old Testament terms..."an eye for an eye". We cannot win this war by fighting "civilized" or "western". If we really want to win, things are going to get ugly...real ugly.
JMHO...

I am deeply concerned about my own kids and what could happen to yours is a close second. Then perhaps you'd be interested in doing things in a way that doesn't inspire people to become terrorists in order to kill both our kids.
Hard choices, like those we made in the 40's over fire bombing cities filled with civilians (including cute little German and Japanese kids), lie ahead.
As a side note: When asked about his role in the Tokyo firebombing, Curtis LeMay said, "I suppose if I had lost the war, I would have been tried as a war criminal. Fortunately, we were on the winning side." (See, e.g., here.)
More to the point, as Solson noted above, terrorists are not tied to cities. Flattening cities therefore doesn't stop them. All it does is inspire others to become terrorists in order to seek revenge.
