This
unfortunately, will be the response of well over 80% of the South Korean People--hey witness the recent elections-- I can assure you.
While the current ROK military/diplomacy is one thing, public opinion in Korea is another and can be quite potent.
Many people here on FR nostalgize back to the good old days in Vietnam where they knew tough-as-nails ROK army guys personally. I don't discount those past realities.
This is a new day, however, the Korean young generation will not stand up to these terrorist guys, and they will be angry at the US and their own government instead, such fools that they are. The ROK government may hang in there, but they are going to be under amazing pressure by the appeasement crowd from here-on-out, which will be in the strong majority in Korea, IMHO.
Don't anyone get angry at me. I'm just telling how it is with these young and middle-aged folks nowadays. It may go the way of Spain for all we know. I hope not.
Your idea is one my husband & I have discussed. For every person they behead we shoot 20 of theirs.
If Korea does decide to retaliate for this, it'll take longer than 8 days to get enough troops in place.
But then again, they could just bomb the crap out of Fallujah.
I kind of doubt they'll do anything, personally. At this point, I think the USA, UK, Korea, and everybody else just wants to get the hell out of Iraq and let that backwards hellhole of a country sink or swim on it's own.
The left can't see this since THEY ARE EVIL!
Selective targets. Withdraw all forces to a safe distance from Falluja and drop a MOAB. Shoot anyone trying to leave the area. Ensure that all news media is in attendance. Repeat as necessary.
Agreed. If anything, with this Iranian seizure British sailors going on, it seems they are even escalating the war. I don't think it helps much for Bush to be praising Islam as a "religion of peace." But, he keeps doing it. I guess I just don't understand the thinking there. It's misleading as hell toward the American people. We haven't been at war with these SOBs since 9/11 -- it's been thirty years they've been at war with us. Long past time for us to realize it and seriously do something about it.
That's what the "Report Abuse" button is all about. To do so publicly is crappy.
So what are we going to do about this? Unfortunately, if we ignore them, they'll kidnap and behead women and children. There must be a point where our anger requires that we teach them a lesson they'll never forget. I want to know what that point is.
for many posters, it is indeed the strategy they would pursue. you have calls for use of nuclear weapons here, and then when its not done, some geniuses post "ok, well then I'm not voting for Bush then".
we have 50,000 gang members in Los Angeles. If tomorrow, they decided to engage in decapitation thrill killings all over the city - there wouldn't be much we could do about it. Before you laugh at me, look at the DC sniper attacks, and tell me I'm wrong.
Michael Savage is a JERK!
only the delusional, goody-goody idiots among us are preventing our exploiting that fatal flaw in their armor
_____
LOL. You're calling Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld "delusional, goody-goody idiots"?
So far I've not heard any of them making the suggestions you have made.
Holy cow! I was there in the summer of '95! Were you there for the Ulchi Focus Lens exercise? Small world I guess.
At least one congresscritter gets it.
"If this doesn't strengthen America's will to support Bush's war on terrorism then we are in deep trouble."
We're in deep trouble. There is a groundswell now to pull out of Iraq. A sizeable majority of Americans are now saying that the cost in lives (some 650 or so) is too high a price to pay. We will be bailing sooner than you might think. As much as I dread it, we better get used to the idea of a President Kerry. The all-out assault on Bush by the media and its leftist cohorts in academia and Hollywood/TV is having its desired affect. And the islamists see that, and will continue doing what they are doing until we finally throw in the towel.
Yeah you're right, we should just cower and hope they'll kill us last. Fool.
"Not only did this poor soul lose his life, he also lost his dignity. What a coo for these evil people. Now they can laugh at how he pleaded for his life. "
He only lost his dignity in the eyes of people who have none whatsoever.
Most human beings on this planet have a heart.
God rest his soul and may God help us in this battle for our survival.
Ahhhhh, yes: the good old Lidice strategy.
Does it ever bother you that you're proposing to act like the nazis?
tell us what we should do?
we just killed 22 terrorists in the bombing of that Fallujah safe house, as an example. It may not have been enough to save this poor man, but your post implies we are doing nothing.
