No Fear, Just Loathing: Hunter S. Thompson Campaigns with FrankenKerry
AP via Yahoo! ^ | 6/21/04

"Two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered
blotter acid, a salt shaker half-full of cocaine and a whole galaxy of multicolored
uppers, downers, screamers, laughers, also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case
of Budweiser, a pint of raw ether, and two dozen amyls... and I was still bored to tears
after five minutes with this guy..."

The formerly good doctor is having a meltdown. He is out of Adrenochrome!

HST appears to have finally reaped what he sowed: glorification of desperate reckless drug injestion.

It all sounded so gonzo to the feeble hippies back in the seventies. Read his old stuff, it screams paranoid irresponsibilty.

Whose vote does John Kerry think he's trying to attract by hanging around with Hunter S. Thompson? I think Kerry's got the drug addict vote sewed up already.

Somebody should dredge up HST's fawning piece touting the great Jimmy Carter -- I think is was in "Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail."

Actually, it was "Jimmy Carter and the Great Leap of Faith", which I think is in The Great Shark Hunt.

Hunter has aged 30 years in the last 15.

I was amazed when I saw him on Conan O'Brien recently. As far as I know, he's had several discs in his spine replaced with titanium, two hip replacements, (and a broken leg, which happened in January, I think), all in the last five years.
