Something has to be done about our dependence on Saudi oil.Like drilling in the U.S. maybe?
Cutting them off will go a long way to destroying them...and the muslims they support.
Yea that'll do it? NOT!
IMHO oil has NOTHING to do with this war, do you disagree?

The presence of oil in Iraq added to the list of reasons to go to war. Oil is a side issue not the main one. Economies run on oil not peanut butter.
That said, the combination of oil and islamic terror is why we are there...and should stay.
We are at war...because we were attacked. I have absolutely no doubt that Sadaam's web and connections to Quada would have led to much worse much sooner for the west and this nation.
The post-modern age of terror demands preemptive action.

This war has to do with oil only in that the people who hate us and want us dead just happen to be sitting on a lot of the world's oil and we need that oil maintaining our way of life. I for one am ready to turn the clock back 100 years on western civilization if that what it takes to end our dependence on the oil that comes from this part of the world. Where we have failed most miserably is that we have not made it a national priority to find other sources of energy to support our way of life. In the 50's we thought it was going to be nuclear (however you pronounce it!) and then the greens got a wild hair and we see what happened to that promised source of energy.

Yes, I disagree. It gives them a big stick to beat us with. We might as well take it from them, one less weapon for them to use against us. I can see why you say that but oil provides them with political influence and money. Opening the Alaskan oil fields would help.
But yes, they would still hate us even if there was no oil involved.
